This really made me sad, I am reminded of the Chimney Sweeper, essay by Charles Lamb.
These children will remain in same condition. Their hands are to work and they'll continue working, never will they stop. They will sleep on footpaths and will eat the rotten food. They will bear the harsh words and kicks and push aways of the society. They will never change and never will there conditions.
Why? Because we are allowing this to happen. We are tolerating it. We can waste A billion on just a piece of junk, on a statue, but can't help these little poor children who themselves don't know in what pathetic condition they are. We think that they would be feeling bad, they would be doing hard work, they would be feeling insecure but for them its routine, we have made them used to all this.
We are sharing sentiments with them, feeling bad, but not guilty. We are responsible for these, each and every soul that sees them and don't say a word, except "Dont, don't do that, my windscreen is clean" when a small child comes to wash it for just a coin of 5/-
The time will change only when one of these will come in power, become the ruler or atleast reach at a position where s/he will be able to make a difference, keeping in mind his/her own position.
Coz those who are rulers of ours have no worry about these children. They are those who are attended by a hundred servants, are Nawabs and sons and daughters of nawabs. Why do they need to think about them? Why they should think about them? and why do we even suppose that they will think about this problem?
We can waste billions on organizing workshops and seminars and symposia on the topic "CHILD LABOUR" and eat a time's meal and go happily while narrating a someone else's written speeches.
Authorities can order cops to throw them away from the roads and streets but can't do nothing for them. Is hidding a thing, eliminating it? No.
