Capability is definitely there, I think at least vis-a-vis what happens on the LOC but not sure wrt overt responses with plausible deniability in the manner that have been conducted in Pakistan in the last few months. Clearly, there is a requirement in terms of the PR perspective for some riposte to be given that is indicative of resolve but not too overt.

100% agree with what you said. We should be proud of what our military did that day, but not arrogant. Arrogance is a killer.

Interesting you used rat as an example. Even in 1971 Manekshaw planned to have ratios of 15:1 of troops and 50:1 (irregular) to Pakistani troops to be able to defeat us. Incompetent leadership and corrupt populace.

We were a lot weaker on paper in the 60's under ayub khan and in the 80's under zia yet pakistan had a strong leadership. Today IK is good but we are cursed with an incompetent COAS.

With regards to a corrupt populace, that is a whole other topic. This is much harder to fix than just having a strong sincere leadership.
