Russia's ultimate aim is to prove to the world that american sanctions aren't dangerous, they are meaningless...Russia will do so either conquering ukraine or toppling the pro-american regime in kiev and replacing it with a pro-Russian government through civil uprising of the pro-Russian population. when america reacts with its so called "never tried before supposedly devastating sactions), Russia starve europe of gas causing a crash in the european stocks while also suspending oil shipments to the u.s. don't forget, Russia is the 2nd largest exporter of oil to u.s. no Russian oil will mean either long lines in front of american gas stations or paying $15 per gallon for the expensive canadian/american oil. that too will cause a crash in the american stock markets. america doesn't have the luxury of switching to middle eastern oil as it will put them in a precarious position in front of the middle eastern oil suppliers who will charge an arm and a leg from the americans for their oil given that u.s. won't have much of an option. All the while when Russia will switch itself off from the swift system to both its own SPFS and Chinese CIPS there by taking all the nations that are aligned with Russia and China as well. the only thing that america can do to prevent this from happening is to military intervene and get into a hot confrontation against Russia, which is something that washington has no gutts to do.

Right now, Russia holds the power to literally RUIN the so called "global rule based order" and shake it down to the rubbles.

Europeans might have internal differences but they take NATO very seriously.
