Story of Air Comdr Sattar Alvi downing Israeli fighter in Syrian War 1973

Page102.jpg

I have no doubt A Cdr Sattar Alvi is telling the truth and he wasnt the only PAF pilot to shoot an israeli plane down, its always good to keep the tail of an aircraft otherwise you get all sort of doubters. Maybe do a DNA on the pilots overall
and return it to his family. I know all the Soviet Jets we shot in the late 80's had their tails or other parts placed at various PAF bases.

While some achievements make it into headlines, others remain obscured and blend into history.
Albeit, the well deserving heroics of Saiful Azam and Sattar Alvi, have been well documented, one other PAF pilot who has seldom being mentioned in the laurels of aerial warfare is Flt. Lt. M. Hatif. He was another PAF pilot deputed to Middle East during the Yum Kippur Arab, Israeli war of 1973...... during which while flying an Egyptian Air force MIG-21, he shot down an F-4 Phantom of the Israeli Air Force.
It must be noted that in 1970s, the American built Phantom was regarded as the best fighter aircraft of it's era.

Flt. Lt. later became an Air Vice Marshal in the PAF.

On 23 October 1973, PAF pilot Flt. Lt. M. Hatif on deputation to Egyptian Air Force (EAF) was flying a EAF MiG-21 in a defensive combat air patrol (CAP) over Egypt when he was vectored towards an intruding Israeli Air Force (IDF/AF) F-4 Phantom. In the ensuing dogfight, Flt. Lt. M. Hatif shot down the Israeli Phantom.

So India should look in history our brave pilots have edge over those who had edge over all airforces so never dare to test their love for Pakistan we might have been in lot of issues some from our own mistakes but when united we are we are unbeatable unbreakable we have history of crushing mighty soviets in Afghanistan so don't push our limits

Is this gun footage from the actual battle between the PAF pilot and the F-4? Any chance of seeing the entire video?

Note: Looks like an Israeli jet. Notice the dark patch on the left wing has the same curvature as the green shape (left wing) in the picture below.

Wrong information mate, the PAF F-16 was never shot down by Soviets or through hostile action, while in thick of combat with Afghan/Soviet aircraft, the F-16 was hit by a stray missile from his own leader.
PAF shot down around a dozen aircraft including the famous Soviet SU-25 kill.

Thanxx for the info mate.

Can you please provide me a link with detailed description of Sukhoi25 & if possible other kills.

Well said.

Military history in the hands of pan-Islamists is a play-dough.

they can mix and mold in whatever shape.

This is an old beat up topic and thread. OP just had nothing else to support his morning coffee. Hence the revival of anti-Israeli discussion.

Saif-ul actually ditched Pakistan as soon as BDesh came into being. Thus shooting down any kind of Pan-Islamist crap that is being doled out in Pakistan today.

Peace

p.s. While we are at it, Our general ZiaulHaq is known for decimating Palestinian terror in Jordan. But Pan-Islamists in Pakistan would ignore and thus white wash the history.]

Israeli pilots are damn good.

And so are Pakistanis.

They should hold military exercises together. Why not!

Its not about pan islamists buddy, I have athiest Pakistani friends, who are proud of this fact that PAF downed Israelis, which despite being unbeatable by numerically superior arabs lost some aircraft to Pakistani pilots, however we should recognize the Jewish state, it was recently reported Pakistan through a third party bought some precision munitions from Israel , our relationship would add a significant offensive capability to Pak armed forces.
The irony is today's Israeli leadership considers India its friend, a country which elected Modi as its leader, a man who was member of RSS which was formed following in the footsteps of Nazi Party, The same swastika which killed 6 million jews today is forcibly converting minorities to Hinduism, 6 million Jews didn't sacrifice their lives at the hands of Nazis that one day a country formed out of their sacrifices would be friends with some one who has idealized Nazis in the past !!!

Bhai Jaan

Pan-islamists, and socialist do have common grounds when it comes being madly in love with everything pro-socialism.

So your observation is not wrong. It just ignores the commonalities among Pakistani "Islamo-socialists".

Thank you.

They are not and your pilot was captured died in hospital
It's really tough for Israel to hide the losses of any soldier or pilot in the field. Remember what happens when Israeli civilians or soldiers get kidnapped? It becomes public knowledge mighty quick and if it's really egregious Israel goes to war. So it's unlikely an effort to hide Israeli fatalities would succeed. Can you even think of a reason why Israel would try to do so?

Henry Kissinger in his memoir Years of Upheaval noted that during the cease-fire negotiations he brokered it was a primary Israeli concern to account for all their dead and captured and that the Syrians and Egyptians did so. So it's extremely unlikely that whatever uniform is on display could be genuine.

Now I have two questions: why is this story important to Pakistanis, and why does it seem to be a point of pride rather than shame?
