Story Behind Balochistan

Pakistani Government now bans the BLA. Although this should have been done way before, but its never too late.

Pakistan: Militant Balochi Group Banned
April 09, 2006 18 52 GMT

Pakistan has banned the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a militant organization waging an insurgency for more autonomy for Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, a senior Pakistani Interior Ministry official told Reuters on April 9. Sanaullah Baluch, secretary-general of the provincial Balochistan National Party, said the move would create more animosity among Balochis toward the Pakistani government.

RAW IS TRAINING 600 BALOCHI TERRORISTS IN AFGHANISTAN

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed is a man who wears many caps: he is the Pakistan Senate foreign relations committee chairman, the secretary-general of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, and widely regarded as Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's right-hand man. A former editor of a major national daily, Hussain knows a thing or two about the unrest in Balochistan. It was a parliamentary committee headed by him that had recommended that the government grant autonomy to the Balochis, and ensure their province wasn't forgotten in the rapid economic development of Pakistan.

Mariana Baabar met Hussain at his residence in Islamabad's upscale E-sector. Though the joke here is that the E is for Extremely Rich, Hussain's own home is modest
His phone keeps ringing as he takes calls from politicians of all ideological hues. Between calls, he talks about the Great Game India's playing inside Afghanistan and its possibility of destabilising the region. Excerpts:

Why should Pakistan complain about India
"India has sizeable ingress in the Afghan ministry of tribal affairs, and is using it for covert activities against Pakistan."having several consulates in Afghanistan? They are two sovereign states.
India currently has an extensive diplomatic presence in Afghanistan. It includes the Indian embassy in Kabul and another four consulates in Kandahar, Jalalabad, Mazar-e-Sharif and Herat. These Indian diplomatic missions serve as launching pads for undertaking covert operations against Pakistan, from Afghan soil. Particularly, the Indian consulates in Kandahar and Jalalabad and their embassy in Kabul are used for clandestine activities inside Pakistan in general and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Balochistan in particular.

Are you alleging that the Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is involved?
Indian diplomatic and RAW officials have significant ingress in the Afghan ministry of tribal affairs, and are exploiting it to conduct covert activities. Indian agents are instrumental in arranging meetings of tribal elders and Afghans with dual nationalities with Indian consulate officials in Jalalabad, and assisting them in spotting and recruiting suitable tribal elders from Jalalabad and Pakistan's North and South Waziristan Agencies for covert activities.

Are you then saying that RAW has managed a strong presence inside Afghanistan after the ouster of the Taliban?
RAW has established its training camps in Afghanistan in collaboration with the Northern Alliance remnants. Approximately 600 ferraris, or Baloch tribal dissidents, are getting specialised training to handle explosives, engineer bomb blasts, and use sophisticated weapons in these camps.

Has India revived its links with the leaders of the erstwhile Northern Alliance who are in power in Afghanistan today?
India has invested heavily in its old connections with the leaders of the erstwhile Northern Alliance. It has sizeable support in Afghan parliament. Before the Afghan elections last year, the Indian ambassador called the Northern Alliance's major leadership at his residence and paid them a handsome amount to run their election campaign.

Are allegations of India placing troops in Afghanistan correct?
India is gradually increasing the number of its paramilitary personnel in Afghanistan. It is stationing them there on the pretext of providing security and protection to the Border Roads Organisation, which is constructing the Zaranj-Dilaram road, and its consulates. From a few personnel, the strength of Indian troops has reached almost that of a company size force and even includes Black Cat Commandos.

Is the Afghan state helping India in these operations?
Yes, the Afghan Police, the Border Security Force and customs officials facilitate the visit of Indian diplomatic staff and intelligence agents to border areas, and help them to hold meetings with dissatisfied pro-Afghan dissidents, anti-state elements, and elders of the area.In this context, meetings of tribal elders are arranged by the Afghan intelligence agency (Riyast-i-Amniyat-i-Milli or RAM) at the behest of those RAW officials who serve in different diplomatic offices of India in Afghanistan. Indian agents are carrying out clandestine activities in the border areas of Khost and in Pakistan's tribal areas of Miranshah with the active support of Afghan Border Security Force officials.

If you remember, after Pakistan took action against the Balochistan Liberation Army and other elements inside the province, the Indian external affairs ministry was quick to issue an unprecedented statement (see story below) in December 2005; their strategic writers have started focusing on Balochistan in their articles. This does not bode well for peace and stability in the region. I have no doubt that this will backfire on India.

Ghazeen to be repatriated within days: Sherpao
By Shahzad Raza

ISLAMABAD: Ghazeen Marri, the son of Nawab Khair Bux Marri, will be handed over to Pakistani authorities from the United Arab Emirates in the next few days, Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao said on Tuesday. Ghazeen Marri was arrested by the UAE authorities several days ago and faces several cases in Pakistan including for the murder of Justice Nawaz Marri, Sherpao told reporters. An Interior Ministry source said Ghazeen was arrested after the federal government banned the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), of which the tribal scion is considered the main financer. The interior minister said important progress had been made in the investigation of a recent bomb blast in Karachi’s Nishtar Park, but would not share these findings with the media. He dismissed the suggestion that the Karachi bomb blast and explosion in Delhi’s Jamia Masjid were linked. Earlier, the interior minister met with Wendy Chamberlain, the deputy high commissioner of the United Nation High Commission for Refugees. He said a tripartite agreement for the voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees expires in December 2006. The agreement was signed in 2003 and around 2.7 million refugees have repatriated voluntarily, he said. Some 2.2 million Afghan refugees still remain in Pakistan

Prashant is right, you don't have to be a mod to respect the general rules.
Mods job is to see that they are honoured, but there's nothing wrong to remind eachother, is it? ;)

Who do you think was behind the delay in his handover to Pakistan?

Gazain Marri still in UAE
Staff Report

KARACHI: Gazain Marri, son of Baloch sardar Khair Bux Marri, who was reportedly taken into custody in Dubai on alleged money laundering charges and was scheduled to arrive in Karachi early Friday morning, did not reach here as his departure from Dubai was cancelled at the last moment.

An immigration official had told Daily Times Thursday night that the immigration authorities at the international arrivals at Karachi airport were intimated that Gazain was being repatriated and was arriving in Karachi by PIA flight PK-228. However, his name was removed from the passengers’ list later.

Meanwhile, a close friend of Gazain Marri told Daily Times on the phone from Abu Dhabi that Gazain is still in Abu Dhabi. He said the UAE government detained Gazain under diplomatic obligation and also asked the Pakistani government to provide evidence against him. On Tuesday, Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao had said that Gazain extradition had been finalized with the UAE and he would be handed over to Pakistan soon.

He was arrested on charges made by paksitan and so the onus is on pakistan to prove it.

Since Ghazzain was promised to be extradited to Pakistan as mentioned by Mr.Sherpao....the last minute delay seems to be the work of RAW, which is quite active in Dubai these days. india has every reason to have Dubai not handover this BLA terrorist to Pakistani authorities as it will expose the deep links RAW has with this fellow.

More then 600 posts don't show logic. Muslim nations are brothers? Since when? If you are talking about brotherhood then Pakistani and Indians are much closer then Pakistani and arabs. There is oil and financial support for lending military power or workforce. That is the only genetic relationship.

RAW sponsored terrorism in Balochistan

ARSHAD KHAN
The ongoing action of law enforcement agencies against the Indian sponsored terrorists in Balochistan has dealt a serious blow to the entire terror infrastructure in the remote corners of this sparsely populated province.
According to reliable sources, the drying up of arms supplies as a result of the government’s action and the relentless pursuit of criminals by the law enforcement agencies as against the halfhearted attempts in the past, have seriously upset RAW sponsored terrorists. Resultantly, the decadent tribal oligarchy opposing the forces of modernity have started resorting to crass terrorism by carrying out cold-blooded murders of unarmed Chinese engineers and blowing up unsuspecting civilians (farmers, housewives, school children etc) by landmines planted on roads/tracks connecting villages and towns.
The deaths caused by landmine explosions have reached a horrendous proportion. In the near past 32 unfortunate Masuris mostly women and children crammed into a pickup, happily en route, to attend a marriage ceremony lost their lives in a landmine explosion near Baiker. In another incident two innocent women and a little girl riding a bullock cart were blown up near Dera Bugti. Two farmers riding a motorbike overran a landmine and were blown to smithereens near Sui.
These gory incidents were the result of landmines made in India and supplied by RAW to their agents among the Farraris. The same bunch of terrorist had no qualms in gunning down three Chinese engineers in Hub. The ruthless killers did not even spare young children.
They lobbed hand grenades at school children standing outside a shop on Quetta’s Brewery Road. A bomb was planted on a bus going to Lahore carrying working class men on their way home to meet their loved ones and three innocent young picnickers, who had come to Pir Ghaib in the Bolan area to escape the monotony and humdrum of life were made to surrender their lives just because a tribal sardar holed up in the caves of Dera Bugti could send a message across that he meant “ Business”. What business, one wonders.
There is no denying the fact that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes, whether the followers of Akbar Bugti or the accursed BLA are no friends of humanity and would kill just to make a political statement. They can be rest assured that their crimes would not go unpunished and retribution will catch up with them sooner, if not later.
