Dude got owned.

Never mess with US Marines, and don't ever, ever pretend to be one. I've met many US Marines in my life and they take great pride in being one. Will often wear it on their sleeves.

I Think the USMC is probably the easiest to catch of all 4 branch. Marine(s) is very into detail and tradition, as that was a sense of honour (Not saying other don't have that, but the Marines are extremely anal about it)

There are some information you simply won't know nor would you find it important if you were not a member of the armed force, but for the people who served, they are like pees and carrots because those are the thing you live by.

One thing tho, those who did not serve is easy to catch, those who served but lied about their record is way harder, because when it come down to, they know all the ins and outs but if you want to catch these people, you basically need to dig into people who you know were there, or if you can get his/her 201 file (personnel), A few years ago, I met someone on the America's Army game who claim he was in the same unit with me when I was deployed to Iraq, that guy didn't last 2 minutes of hard grilling. he can't even describe to me what Iraq look like in 2004....And when I call him out online, he just disappeared lol .\./.

And this happened a lot....

Well, do they get any financial benefits from it? or just lie to impress people of their "brilliant" career and service to the nation?

They are looking for some sense of importance, they have very low self-esteem.. faking personality is some sickness in its self.. but Cons use it for fraudulent purposes.. even getting a woman to love them.. at the end they always lose what they have gained and much more..

I don't know if and how they will get any monetary benefits but yeah getting some chicks can be one of the advantages..but that's also temporary and the constant feeling of guilt would kill them from inside. The message is "Be yourself....don't pretend".

That dude made an earlier mistake when he said he had his "Boot Camp" training in the Army........

They were called Basic in the army, not boot or boot camp.

. . .
But for that you need to show service ID...and if caught with that, that's a serious offence and they can end up in jail.

They usually have fake IDs and to an unsuspecting sales person they wouldn't know the difference. It's only when they come across ex-service persons their lies come unfold.

Financial Benefit, yes, but not from the Government.

Used to be when things aren't really that rampant, the government hand out retirement benefit for which you can claim if you have a certain medal or reward. But now everything is put against your personnel file and your 214/215 (discharge file) when you go, it's hard to claim benefit anymore. But still from time to time you will hear someone claiming medal (hence benefit) they don't deserve.

Money would come in from other organisation, such as TV/Movie Production (when you are hired as a technical advisor), book deal (A lot of them sell their imaginary experience and write book about it), or charity organisation. But mostly it's pounce on people sympathy when you pretended to be a homeless vet or something like that.

Most of them saying stuff they don't have usually about pride and joy, a sense of belonging, there aren't many that go for money, but majority of these faker go for glory, having a chance to march with us and having a touch of that glory is what and why they are pretending
