Starting a new life in US, how do I go about this ?

Very tensed, I have no idea where to start, so many doubts

Infact my first trip abroad ever.

PS : permanent residency.

I have all luxuries in India, car/bike/PC/AC/Kothi/Maid blah blah blah. All my relatives are in Canada, khaandaan LOL. Wish me good luck. :D

Well hope you are able to fit in and may I ask which state are you exactly moving too.

Good luck.

P.S first thing to do over these is find a girlfriend, run after girls in the street and capture one for yourself.

No its the new and exciting way of getting a girl, they love it. You should try it too one night.

Thats how we roll.

I want to roll with you, can i be apart of your crew? :victory:

Jatt do you have a job lined up? I would amagine it would be hard without one.

lol... would it be too mean of me to say "Lag gai tumhari" :D

Some very random advice.

You can do what all Desis do. Find some Indian/Pakistani friends and find a support group in them. Trust me, many desis are super tairay by your standards back home. So don't expect them all to be nice people by default.

Read laws AND LEARN TO READ MAPS. Maps thing is very important. You know in our countries every thing is "Falanay roundabout se right phir left and masjid ke bilkul side pe".

In America, each and every road, and gali is marked. It has a South/North or East/West direction. Everything has an address and you can go anywhere in America, armed with a map, or better - Google Maps.

Try not to build up any debt. Its a bad economic time in America and debts are easy to build up.

Be wary of the Khandaan :P. Seriously.

Yes, you can be a part of my crew but only after passing the first test. You have to find a nice looking girl from moscow, capture her and post her to me through FedEx.

As for his job, there is an acute shortage of Cab drivers in NY. But he should also try strip clubs and stuff.

A few random thoughts :

1. You are going to a new country on your free will, they did not invite you. Abide by their laws how so ever strange they may seem to you.

2. Make friends with locals, get to know them. Since you are seeking a PR do not get stuck with Indians only. The biggest mistake we make when abroad is to become clannish. Dont just stick to Punjabi music & food i.e your comfort zone.

3. Dont break the law.

4. Don't tell a lie ,its better to come straight.

In short, avoid most of the things that come naturally to us at home.

.
I would say follow these things strictly-:
1) Learn how to cook or get ready to get Fat.
2) Be hygienic, desis smell bad...use perfume and deodorant daily. Change socks daily.
3) Don't stare at couple kissing or at girls in general.
4) Don't carry your culture bag where ever you go.
5) Don't act like a typical desi and start over-fearing from the law.

You can get into the wrong things anywhere in the world. The only thing is in America you have opportunity to do these "wrong" things most other places you don't. These good boys who never did anything wrong because of the lack of opportunity (but secretly wanted to), are nothing to be proud of.

You don't have to go to strip clubs
You don't have to get drunk
You don't have to get into gangs
You don't have to do drugs

For this matter I like Dubai. You can be a religious monk or you can be a party boy, its all your choice and unlike in the US, the peer pressure to get into everything else, doesn't start until you're much older.

I was watching TV show where the guy is considering dumping this quite decent looking girl (used the nicest words so I don't come off as pedo :P) because she's a virgin, hence she really much totally suck in bed.

This was shown as a casual attitude in high school. I felt like its mostly peer pressure.

You don't have to go to strip clubs
Not possible when he will get to know he can see a white girl total nude for $1, if he is lucky she will rub her breast to his face for $1 or make him smell her cha-cha for the same money
You don't have to get drunk
Living in cold areas such as Minnesota I would say is good thing
You don't have to get into gangs
Desi and Gangs, Their business will shut if they start hiring fattu desis :lol:
You don't have to do drugs
Everyone is into 420 or marijuana

Your advice is sound but not practical atleast not for a typical Indian, since the poster is Punjabi Jatt. I am assuming he will do everything what you wrote not to :lol::lol:
