Stalled negotiations: Obama pushed Modi to re-engage with Pakistan

Bold off topic and irresponsible.Nothing wrong in my post, just one of those things people can't swallow.

Oh no, your post is nothing short of a strawman argument, when proved wrong i.e.

. . . . . . . .
hmm.. Pakistani newspaper commenting about what was said between Indian and American leaders away from the media glare. Looks like Americans are again taking Pakistan down the garden path :D

.
I guess there is no need for India to engage Pakistan at this moment. India should keep on concentrating on raising its stature which Modi;s government is doing currently. No need to get diverted by engaging a irritant west neighbor now. Untill there is change in their thinking or their heart (there are many ways to know about it, successful procceding of Mumbai case, handing over of Dawood, JUD's leader etc), there is no point in "History repeating itself" kind of incidents where in we talk to them and they there is an attack and their government blame it on non-state actors and does nothing to control them.

.
yeah rite..source is a Pakistani official...no credibility at all...according to American sources(NYT) which actually can be trusted..Modi and Obama talked more than 45 mins of their 90 mins meeting only about China..

.
India was and is willing to talk to Pakistan and mend relations. Guess who spoiled the party? The Pakistani High Commissioner to India, Mr Abdul basit who cocked a snook at the Indian request to not engage with the lame duck Hurriyat before the secretary level talks. But he went ahead and screwed up everything.

Pakistan must decide if it wants to engage with the democratic Republic of India or a non entity like the Hurriyat if it is serious about the so called Kashmir dispute. You can't have the cake and eat it too, can you? Taking into account 'the wishes of the Kashmiri people' can come after modalities have been worked out by India and Pakistan.

And the HURRIYAT DOES NOT REPRESENT THE PEOPLE OF KASHMIR. So why is Pakistan hell-bent to talk to them?

Likewise, would Pakistan agree if India's High Commissioner to Pakistan has talks with the representatives of Pak Administered Kashmir?

India, as usual needed a lame excuse, so they came up with the high commissioner non-sense. Where does it specify that the high commissioner of Pakistan cannot meet anyone in India? Did he break any Indian laws? Just plain old BS. That's it.

Yes. I remember some similar unnamed officials claimed that ISI and PA were involved in the operation to eliminate OBL in Abbotabad. A claim which was immediately rubbished and discredited by the US establishment.

No. No laws were broken. Just like none are broken by calling off the talks. A warning was ignored and hence repercussions had to be felt. No biggie. The lines have been redrawn for the engagement on Kashmir. Indian govt has clarified its stance, which is that you can either engage with the separatists or with GOI. Call is for Pakistan to take. So far Pakistan has chosen to engage with separatists and we respect that choice. Just like we expect Pakistan to respect our choice of not engaging with Pakistan in that scenario.

Lip service and formalities of US for their Pak allies.US President might put forward a suggestion for talks. But he cant push us.
And we also like a talks with Pakistan except Kashmir word.

Are you in the favor of Pakistan talking to Kashmir representatives or not?
  • If you do not support our talks with Kashmirs, you should rather be happy that Pakistan is taking to "non-representatives" and that talk will eventually turn futile.
  • If you support Pakistan's talk with Kashmirs, you should let Pakistan talk to the ones it wants.
In either case, India doesn't have a reason to object.
