When SSM was founded in 1985 the Turkish defence industry was quite sloppy, no good guidance and often due to mismanagement our defence industry failed to produce decent products to produce and provide our army needs. Result was that Turkey (like current Greece) was solely dependent on weapon imports and the whims of the selling countries.
The next graphics shows the influence of a central managing body that guides defence projects and distributes them in a manner that the Turkish defence companies can grow accordingly.
