What's new

SSIK Meeting: Atak-II program officially kicked off

. .
Basically a Turkish version of the Apache Longbow?

It will be Turkish version of Denel Rooivalk. ATAK-II will utilise components of indigenous 10-Ton Utility Helicopter. Just as the Denel Rooivalk uses components of SA 330 Puma Helicopter.

.
but Denel Rooivalk depend on France for rotors, turbo shaft engine , avionics, etc and without fire control radar

ATAK-II almost 100% indigenous from avionics to weapons and from rotors to engine as like AH-64 APACHE
and with MILDAR fire control radar ( similar to American LONGBOW )

and if ATAK-II is with 10 ton of MTOW , then will be similar to American AH-64 APACHE ( 10.4 t of MTOW )

Denel Rooivalk = 8750 kg of MTOW

You did not understand, i'll use images to make it clearer what I'm saying.

ATAK-II will use main components of the Indigenous 10-Ton helicopter project, they will share components and cut cost of development while reducing risks.

Denel Rooivalk shared components of SA 330 Puma to cut costs of development and reduce risks. In that way Turkey is following similar approach the S.Africans took to develop their Attack Helicopter.

I understood You and Yes you are right ....
but CrimsonFurry says that Basically a Turkish version of the Apache Longbow? in technology and capability ( fire Power,,fire control radar,,MTOW,,etc ) similar to Apache Longbow

Technologically and capability wise it will be superior to ATAK-I, that's all we know..

.
Technologically and capability wise it will be superior to ATAK-I

technologically and capability ATAK-II will be superior to Denel Rooivalk as well as

Denel Rooivalk uses 1990s technology and without fire control radar
even AW-129 and Eurocopter TIGER have no fire control radar

AH-64 Apache is with LONGBOW Millimeter Wave Radar
KA-52 is with FH-01 Millimeter Wave Radar
ATAK-II is with MILDAR Millimeter Wave Radar

and ISMAIL DEMIR said that ATAK-II will be same class Attack Helicopter as like AH-64 APACHE

and ATAK-II will have the latest technology electronics and avionics

I know why ppl want to compare with apache.. but its our version for our needs and envoirement..

for excample we will use 20mm cannon and apache uses 30 mm not everything is similar or same.. and that does not mean its good or worse it depends on what you need

Look, comparing one platform to another doesn't work out the way you think. It's not apples to apples comparison, even with variety of apples out there.

For Instance, I give you one example. Rooivalk with it's 8Ton MTOW has 6 hard points on its wings. Apache AH-64 with 10ton MTOW has only 4 hardpoints on its wings. Now which is superior?

This.

of course APACHE is superior ,,, Rooivalk can carry 16 anti Tank missiles ,
Apache also can carry 16 anti tank missiles ,, also have a station on each wingtip for 2 air to air missiles and 1200 rounds and Apache has LONGBOW milimeter wave fire control radar
and superior armor protection

on the other hand Rooivalk has no milimeter wave fire control radar and 700 rounds

according to Ismail Demir ATAK-II also will have the same capability as like AH-64 APACHE LONGBOW

for excample we will use 20mm cannon and apache uses 30 mm not everything is similar or same.. and that does not mean its good or worse it depends on what you need

most important thing is milimeter wave fire control radar and both APACHE and ATAK-II have milimeter wave fire control radar is used for target tracking and engagement, especially for moving vehicles such as Tanks ( millimeter wave radar can be used against ground targets in the same manner as an airborne radar can be used against aerial targets )

for example ATAK-II with MILDAR milimeter wave fire control radar is capable of tracking up to 50 targets and engaging up to 16 at once ............. 12 km range resolution for Tanks and 8km for Helikopters

but AW-129,,Eurocopter TIGRE and Denel Rooivalk have no milimeter wave fire control radar

for excample we will use 20mm cannon and apache uses 30 mm not everything is similar or same.. and that does not mean its good or worse it depends on what you need

I know Apache uses 30mm gun and of course not everything is similar or same

ATAK-I is very effective to fight against terrorism ( light , fast , agile , etc )

now ATAK-II is to improve combat survivability ...... ( more armor protection , more fire power , fire control radar , etc )

Rooivalk can carry 16 anti-tank missile PLUS 4 air-to-air missiles, simultaneously. Rooivalk has more hardpoints on its wings.

This is last time I'm going to go into it, if you don't get it you don't get it..

Rooivalk has 6 hardpoints on the stub wings to carry 16 anti tank missiles and 4 air to air missiles
Apache has 4 hardpoints on the stub wings to carry 16 anti tank missiles , plus has a station on each wingtip for an AIM-92 Stinger twin missile pack ( 4 air to air missiles )

and what about milimeter wave fire control radar ?
both APACHE and ATAK-II have milimeter wave fire control radar ... ( LONGBOW and MILDAR )
but Rooivalk has no milimeter wave fire control radar

most important thing is milimeter wave fire control radar ,, not hardpoints on the stub wings
