Sri Lanka union blames Chinese firm for power plant failure

.
Do u want to know the what SL railway union said about Indian development? let's see I can find that news article.
Do u think 50,000 newly built houses? Just check the project again! Now more than a year, nothing completed well. Indians talk a lot but less have done. Don't forget we need to pay those projects.

LOL U guyz are really jealous with Chinese developments and cities. Just appreciate their hard work and learn something and try to improve the living standard of your people.

First of all where in my link its said that 50,000 houses are built or do you seriously think that 50,000 houses can be built in one year...we are not supermen neither is you.
Krishna in Lanka, may announce more aid - Indian Express

Foreign Minister S M Krishna will hand over the first set of 50,000 houses and 10,000 bicycles to Tamils displaced by war and inaugurate a railway link between Galle and Colombo that has been repaired with India’s help as he starts his four-day tour of Sri Lanka Monday.

As for railways, the rolling stock is chinese and you better take this with them, like the power plant in question. As for unions they are obviously pissed at India for not using SL engineers to do the work.

Chinese train on Indian-made track crosses 100 km in Sri lanka - Hindustan Times

Thousands lined up on both sides of the renovated railway track between the southern coastal cities of Galle and Matara as for the first time in Sri Lankan railway history, a train crossed the 100 km per hour mark. The 38-minuted journey for a distance of 42 km also marked the completion

of an Indian project in post-war Sri Lanka. The journey earlier took more than hour.
This was the first phase of a project undertaken Indian Railway’s international arm, IRCON, to modernise old railway tracks across Sri Lanka. The rail lines were damaged during the 2004 tsunami.

The first train was inaugurated by Sri Lankan Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama and the Indian High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Ashok K Kantha. They also travelled on the train, which is made in China, to Matara.

The inauguaral function took place amid a boycott call by a railway union who questioned why Indian engineers and labour were employed for the project and not Lankan expertise. The boycott call, however, did not get response and the first train on the newly laid track was packed with passengers.

``Only Indian engineers were employed. The labour was from Sri Lanka,’’ IRCON general manager, SL Gupta, told Indian reporters. He added that the track was laid at a much a lower cost, $36 million, than offered by other companies.

A line of credit of $167.4 million has been extended by India for the rehabilitation of the Colombo-Matara rail link. The second phase is likely to begin in March.

A credit line of more than $800 million has been extended for repairing and laying down new tracks in the war-ravaged northern districts.

Its clearly shows that that track was tested for 100kmph without any problem. Its not our problem that the train is now going slow. Its shows your incompetence in running the railways.

Thank you Skyline for the link in post#108. You clearly shot yourself in the foot by that as it gave me the Hindustan Times link.

PS: Nice work for getting thanks from Chinese..keep it up.

mate, You haven't idea about what's this 50000 houses project, it's not a project of 50,000 newly built houses.

I'm a person who live in SL, this track has a speed limit coz of the Indian quality. :D when you get chance try this railway track, both Indian and Chinese trains are there.

lol It seems difficult to admire Chinese development for you, you guys are so funny, I just wonder if you guys actually have top level living standard, less poor percentage, clean cities etc etc how much will ya be proud! Empty Indian words...:D

Then enlighten me.

You quoted from unions especially the ant-India JVP backed unions. He is one poster in your link thinks about JVP:

I'm sure we all can remember the train that was washed away in Gall with the loss of 1200 lives, the Employee's of this particular line was laid off on full pay for over 3 months by the Govt. Yet, when the day came finally to run the trains again, I remember these JVP backed Scum called a strike to protest about not being paid enough.

These JVP backed scum are the bane of Sri Lanka, where that day should have been an important day for all Sri Lankans, it was ruined because of their total selfishness and the moment was lost for us to show the world that we can put our difference aside at the time of need. It didn't matter to these Bastards that over 1200 poor people had lost their lives, nor did it matter to them to run this train on time as a mark of respect to the dead people. The Country and the People needed a boost to uplift us from the Tsunami at the time, but the JVP backed unions managed to take even that bit of dignity away from us. It will be a long time before we forget their actions on that day.

Again a railway line that was cleared for 100kmph is now not good enough. Sounds suspicious..

lol It seems difficult to admire Chinese development for you, you guys are so funny, I just wonder if you guys actually have top level living standard, less poor percentage, clean cities etc etc how much will ya be proud! Empty Indian words...:D

Typical brainfart expected out of a Chinese a** kisser..nothing more.

. . .
Sri lanka paid to buy the chineese power plant, now pay to make it work correctly...

.
Thanks for the info, but you better explain why a Chinese run power plant in SL is breaking down so often.
China's power plant is fine. The Sri Lankans are much better off with our infrastructure aid than your third world hole india. You people live in the darkness because you can't even build your own plant! Your poor villagers would kill for a Chinese power plant, but india's too poor to afford them and we don't want to gift it to you because you are our adversary.

Power shortage likely to worsen in nine northern states - Times Of India

Power shortage likely to worsen in nine northern states

SHIMLA: Nine states in northern India would likely face power shortage as the country's largest hydropower plant - Nathpa Jhakri Hydropower Station (NJHPS) - in Himachal Pradesh is reducing its production to half due to less discharge of water in Satluj river due to freezing of glaciers.

These states include Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam's 1500MW Nathpa Jhakri power project at Rampur requires water discharge of 400 cubic metres per second (cusecs) but nowadays, only 177 cusecs are being discharged from Satluj, thus reducing daily generation limit to 800MW, which is almost half the total capacity.

Since 2004, HP, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, J&K, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh had been getting additional power generated by NJHPS.

All other hydropower stations in the state jointly generate 500MW and NJHPS alone is capable of producing 1,500MW power.

Daily power generation has already dipped from 36 million units per day to 18-20 million units and as winters near, these units would dip further.

"Generation of electricity is lean after mid-September due to low water discharge from the river. NJHPS has a daily production capacity of 36 million units from its six units having capacity of six lakh units each. This would not affect the annual generation target of 8,000 million units this year, as 6,000 million units have been already generated in the first six months," said Vijay Kumar Verma, AGM (corporate communication).

Power cuts are being imposed in the industrial towns of HP. Here, hydropower stations generate electricity to their full capacity from April to mid-September.

See thats the thing, power plants in China are fine, but the power plant made in Sri Lanka by Chinese government owned company is not fine! And if thats not enough, there is allegation that Chinese government owned company is deliberately stalling the system to increase their maintenance contract.

And your link about power shortage in India, there was a reason for that(not man made), if you read the article you ll see it.

No..thats the point of this thread in the first place. The rest of your post ..brainfart.

Glaciers freeze during winter..thats natural. May be in China you heat the glaciers during winter months.

really like denial and less educated indians poor excusese for their joke capability, lol...3 times travelled to India whith short stays god know how many black outs I had experienced, pathetic people and their country at their best.

all the reasons are man made, either incapable to build good quality power plants, or $uck at managing power plants so which one you'd choose as your indian excuse?

there are 700million dead poor indians having less than 50 cent per day to live, so by keep saying he is 50 cent army member wouldnt change the fact that 700 million poor souls would have better life.... maybe you should organize an Over 50 Cent army in indian, you would have no problem of recruiting and to build a strong freedom fighter army just like the heroric Maoist doing to kill those cockroaches in Indian
