First thing is India & Sri Lanka can never be enemies. We can have small differences time & again like any family has arguments & fights. But it will never lead to war ever. We had some differences for a brief period with LTTE & IPKF in the 80's, which has long been sorted & buried. There was a mis-conception with many people in Sri Lanka that all Indians are Tamils till the 90's, due to low literacy & our economies still backward at that time. Recent small issues have been with fishing because of Indian fishermen using mechanised trawlers

We have deep cultural similarities & we have atmost love & respect for our Sri Lankan brothers. Historically and culturally, the two nations have been considerably close, with 70% of Sri Lankans continuing to follow Theravada Buddhism to this day. Buddhism was introduced into Sri Lanka in the 4th century BCE by Mahinda, the son of Indian Emperor Ashoka the great, during the reign of Sri Lanka's King Devanampiya Tissa. People like A. T. Ariyaratne of Sri Lanka has spread non violence and community service activities on Gandhian philosophy.

Tourism is one of their big industry & India is Sri Lanka's top source of tourists. India is active in a number of areas of development activity in Sri Lanka. About one sixth of the total development credit granted by India is made available to Sri Lanka. There are many other areas we are in co-operation for trade & development.

India is Sri Lanka's closest neighbor and friend. Our destinies are interlinked. Definitely I have never felt any hatred or threat from Srilanka. When I was in Botswana our office had rented a property of a Sri Lankan & we were frequent customers to a Sri Lankan restaurant named Chutney next to OK foods (Universal Estates) for having dosa, uttapam & Kuttu parata. We used to go disco & clubbing at Bull & Bush, which I am not sure if it was owned by Sri Lankans. Anyway overseas I have met many Sri Lankans who play together, party together on weekends, enjoy desi music & many bachelors even live together with Indians. You will find Indians & Lankans in the same neighborhood. I even have a close childhood Tamil Indian Christian friend of mine married to a Buddhist Sri Lankan & settled in Colombo.

Sri Lankans can share their opinion, if anybody differ with me.

I do not forsee a long term or any bitter conflict with Sri Lanka. For starters Sri Lankans have been a lot more tolerant of Indians and Hindus than any of the other neighbors (maybe except Nepal)

Their S-300 will be different from what India have, remember tech from S-350E & S-400 will be utilized in latest S-300 systems.
