I doubt its a common practice but some thing must be drastically wrong if they crashed in to each other.

MiG-35 May be???
The gripen is a good choice but the troubles with USA over a certain Human rights issue and sanctions may keep the Lankans away from the swedes.
JF-17 is also a possible choice considering the cost factor.
LCA Blk-2 is a real dark horse.

What threat they have? they should buy used Mirages from UAE which have not been used much and are the later 2000 models they would be ideal for the Lankans because they have used mirages in the past.

J-10 makes sense here, keeping the cost in mind SL can go for 50-60 of these birds. But my recommendation for them would be Mig-35.

JF-17 best choice.
J-10,Mig-29 possible but not in numbers a fer 9-10 they can buy.
Gripen- too risky the engine is sanction prone.
