Spy chiefs from Russia, Iran, and China meet in Pakistan to discuss IS threat from Afghanistan

Some members here are writing without understanding the ground realities. These countries are coming to Pakistan since they need Pakistan support. Without this support nothing will happen. Iran is keen to get involved because it is next in the firing line - Iran is being surrounded. Now some here will jump up and down and say that is not correct. But this is the ground reality.

ISIS planted by US in Aghanistan .TTP assets controlled by RAW are tranformed to ISIS . Iranians got experience in syria but now fight is on their door steps . For sure Pakistan gonna suffer the most as most of ISIS assets are planted alongside pak afghan borders . Also going to effect chinese CPEC investment directly , russians are also indirectly inlvolved . So there is a need of combined strategy

Last week saw a historic meeting in Islamabad between the intelligence chiefs of China, Russia, Pakistan and Iran. While the details of the meeting were not disclosed beyond statements implying that counter-terrorism was a dominating theme, it is a safe assumption that the war in Afghanistan was a major topic of discussion.

Today, following on from the intelligence shared between national partners, the Russian President’s special envoy on Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov has stated that the Taliban controls over half of Afghan territory at the present time. Due to the remote geography of much of Afghanistan, it is difficult to say with exactitude just how much territory of Afghanistan the Taliban control, with most estimates being anywhere between 35% and 65% of all Afghan territory.

The revelation from Kabulov is therefore crucial as it represents Russia’s official determination of a highly contested question regarding just how profound the resurgence of the Taliban has been since 2001. Equally important to determining how much territory the group which remains outlawed in Russia controls, is determining how much political influence the Taliban have and where. The answer to this comes relatively easily. Perhaps ironically, the Taliban now control much of northern Afghanistan which in the 1990s was the base of the anti-Taliban coalition Northern Alliance which for a time was supported by Iran, Russia and India. Today not only has the internal political geography of Afghanistan changed but so too have international positions regarding the internal politics and disputes of Afghanistan.

Heads of Russian, Iranian, Chinese, Pakistani intelligence services discuss IS threat

The top security and intelligence officials stressed the need for a more active inclusion of regional powers in the efforts to settle the conflict in Afghanistan

MOSCOW, July 10. /TASS/. Heads of intelligence services of Russia, Iran, China, and Pakistan held a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss the measures against the threat of aggregation of the Islamic State militants in Afghanistan, Sergei Ivanov, the chief of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service's press bureau told TASS.
The Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, represented Russia.

"The discussions focused on the dangers arising from a buildup of the Islamic State on the Afghan territory," Ivanov said

"The conference reached understanding of the importance of coordinated steps to prevent the trickling of IS terrorists from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan where from they would pose risks for neighboring countries," he said.

The top security and intelligence officials stressed the need for a more active inclusion of regional powers in the efforts to settle the conflict in Afghanistan.

Nope Blasts like these take planning of many days the blast was planned before the meeting. It is better to say that Meeting was 100% on spot that USA Israel and India are working together to bring ISIS in Afghanistan.

Seems like you are clueless. Do you know how many terror attacks have happened in Turkey since the last decade? Are you aware that the eastern 1/3rd of the Kurdish heartland in Turkey is a war zone? Are you aware that the father of ISIS, Nusra, FSA is none other than Er-Dog-An?

Pakistan has suffered heavy spillovers from the US war in Afghanistan for many years. It’s high time for Pakistan to cut all ties to the US just like Iran. Take Turkey for example, they have neighboring IS strongholds just by southern border but they don’t suffer spillover terrorist attacks in their country. Pakistan should seek military advice from Turkey too, they are experienced with dealing with IS threats.

I wonder what side would Pakistan choose in the future...

It was the US/Israeli and Russian plan that destroyed Syria. We need to plan for all eventualities and combinations. Number one priority should be to heavily infiltrate the terrorists in Afghanistan/India so that we know what their games/plans and goals are.
