Spine of MOST ADVANCED AIRLINER boeing 787 Dreamliner - MADE IN INDIA !

Hi,

The right term is FABRICATED in India----. Technically these are fabrication facilities and not manufacturing facilities---regardless of if they are in china, india, pakistan or elsewhere.

You only partnership in this venture is manpower trained by boeing---and the same would go for other countries.

Now if it is entertainment system from Japan---okay--it is manufactured by Japan---if it is avionics from France, italy or britain---okay they are manufactured by them---because they design and manufacture them for their own utility as well.

Boeing uses the word manufacture, end of story:

Boeing: Boeing India - About Boeing in India

Industry Partnerships
As a long-term strategic partner to India, Boeing is accelerating the development of an indigenous aerospace and defense ecosystem by contributing to the “Make in India” initiative, launched in September 2014. Boeing’s industrial partnership program is focused on capitalizing on India’s competencies to build a supply-chain capability that will be globally competitive. This will support aerospace and defense programs across the Boeing enterprise.

Soon after the Indian Prime Minister launched the “Make in India” initiative, Dynamatic Technolgies and Boeing inaugurated a plant to manufacture critical parts for the Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. In a state-of-the-art facility with TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd, Boeing supports manufacture of complex floorbeams for the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, one of the most advanced airplanes in the world. TAL also makes ground support equipment for the C-17.

Recently, Boeing signed a framework agreement with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) to collaborate in aerospace and defense manufacturing and potential integrated systems development opportunities, including unmanned aerial vehicles.

Dynamatic Technologies and Tata Advanced Materials Limited (TAML) have delivered P-8I power and mission equipment cabinets, and TAML is on contract to provide P-8I auxiliary power unit door fairings and composite tailcones for the P-8I. Avantel has delivered the mobile satellite systems for the P‑8I and Maini. Hyderabad-based Cyient (formerly Infotech) has supported a number of critical design-engineering projects for Boeing airplanes, and currently provides design and stress support on the 747-8 Freighter and the 787-8 and 787-9.

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has delivered the Indian-designed Data Link II for the P-8I. Data Link II is a communications system that enables exchange of tactical data and messages among the Indian Navy aircraft, ships and shore establishments. BEL has also delivered the identification friend-or-foe interrogator, a battle management system that enables the aircraft to distinguish friendly aircraft and forces. Finally, BEL is on contract to provide F/A-18 flight deck cockpit panels. Electronics Corporation of India (ECIL) has provided the speech secrecy systems for the P-8I.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) was the single-source producer of 757 overwing exit doors. HAL has also manufactured the 777 uplock boxes, F/A-18 gun bay doors, F/A-18 wire harnesses, P-8I weapons bay doors, and P-8I identification friend-or-foe transponders.

Since 1997, Boeing has worked with India’s premier software development companies — including HCL, Infosys, Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) — on several projects related to systems reengineering and development, web enabling, e-business applications and long-term maintenance. Beyond direct work placement, Boeing collaborates with Indian industrial suppliers on lean manufacturing techniques, on program management and supplier management best practices, and in specialized trainings as part of its drive to bring the best of Boeing to India.

Boeing’s existing industrial partners are raising their bar to deliver world-class quality, cost efficiency and productivity as they become an important part of the company’s worldwide supply chain for some of the most advanced aircraft in the world.

Fabrication is generally the term used to manufacture sub-assemblies and component parts. I say 'generally' because it does vary by industry and product methodology. For example most computer manufacturers are called 'fabless' because they outsourced manufacture of semiconductor assemblies and boards to fabricators (such as TSMC). OTOH many metal works, material science sub-industries call their manufacturing process itself fabrication.

Ofcourse if your point was to take a pot shot at Indian pride, surely you did fabricate it well. Green is such a beautiful color but only when not used for envy.

Never knew that the term "Manufacturing" goes along with only those who hold the IPR.

Hi,

Fabrication process is a subset of the manufacturing process. Within the industry, the "Manufacturer" is the producer of the product in its final form before being delivered to the customer---. Fabricators are involved in making sub-components of the finished product and could be either internal or externally sourced.

Fabricators produce the design provided to them---which may also mean as providing machinery, training and specification to fabricate the product---or the fabricator may have machinery that meets the specified needs of the manufacturer.

Hi,

The moment you indians assume that there is a shot taken at your machismo---you go into the STUPID MODE,

The design of this 'spine' is given by boeing---the material specifications given by boeing----the tolerances given by the manufacturer---so where is indian input in it other than fabrication.

I will say that is a good start for a country that lacks expertise in this area. Everybody needs to start, somewhere.

Wrong!! Then by your logic, nothing is getting manufactured in this world. its all fabricated and Assembled?

the moment someone points out anything factual you Pakistanis go into foaming and name calling. Ofcourse Boeing controls the specs....that's why it is called a Boeing jet einstein!

You are just splitting hairs because of JEALOUSY

So is Jf17 fabrication?

Hi,

Most of the parts manufactured in pakistan for the JF 17 is Fabrication----no doubt about it----.

But then pakistan also fabricate parts for boeing---but it is a sub-contractor for Boeing---.

But as it is a partner in the design of the the product aka JF17----then by default it becomes a manufacturer of those parts as well---even though they are being fabricated.

Now if Boeing has a plant in india that builds the spine---it is fabrication---and boeing subsidiary india is the contractor as well---but if another source is putting it together----then that company is an independant sub-contractor.

Independant sub-contractors are not manufacturers and do not have the right to manufacture on their own that particular product---.

Like mercedes uses like many other cars----a Bosch fuel injection system. Bosch is an independant contractor----but it is also a manufacturer of the fuel injection system---so---Bosch is not fabricating it---it owns its system and technology being sold to mercedes.

Takata air bags---a big recall---honda---toyota---nissan. You see them in these cars---Takata does not fabricate them---it manufactures them as a whole with their technology and sell them to the auto manufacturers as a sub system that works with the safety of the vehicles---. So Takata is a contractor selling its equipment that it designed to these end users.

Now if the spine of the dreamliner is designed by hindustan---that is a totally different story----. It is like saying----boeing needs a spine for a new aircraft---and there is this spine vendor in india manufacturing its own designed spine for other aircafts---and thus boeing choses that vendor---and so it becomes manufactured in india for boeing----otherwise---it is fabricated in india for boeing.

Why such a fight over being slaves of western companies? Either way india or pakistan cannot manufacture or have companies that drive the future. Only thing desi's are good in is to get into petty fights.:(

Hi,

Neither of us is a slave to the western world---. It is not necessary to have companies that drive the future---but as long as you can tag along for the ride and get it in bits and pieces---we will be fine.

One major hurdle that the desis have is that they love to 'lie'----they want to claim something that is not their own as their own just to look good---.

Watch out man... India will send death squad against you for hurting their fragile sentiments because Once India says its made in india you better believe it it is MADE in india.
