There have been wide speculations of Pakistan going to IMF for loan but this just might not happen.

Pakistan has a debt which was taken by previous govt of PMLN. The rupee support policy of PMLN threw Pakistan into bad economic water but with the announcement of progressive PTI govt and their pro economic policies Pakistan is not going to knock the door of IMF, reason China has decided to pump more cash into Pakistan's economy. The effect of this news is already bringing economy back on track. Dollar price is falling every day and stock market of Pakistan is showing some of the largest gains after the elections.

China has agreed to a loan of $2 billion even before PTI has moved into office.

China wants to provide the new govt a fair ground keeping it out of Western clutches of IMF policies.

Well the thing is: why loan every time. Why not live a life of independent people.
I fear people of Pakistan might pay for the sins of their leaders, as Quraan says in Surah Al Shams.
So better put pressure on establishment. Better not to sell our dignity for any thing.

We should worry about our country because it is woefully unprepared for environmental challenges. A few days of high-intensity rain turned Lahore into Venice. If this is the situation in Lahore, other cities are more vulnerable. We cannot take our environmental stability for granted for long.

Short term - Pakistan needs funds and China v IMF debate is plain stupid, China comes above IMF. We don't want conditions that IMF imposes, and every country under IMF the people struggle badly. IMF is a curse.

Long term - Collect Taxes, increase exports and pay off IMF loans first and foremost. Then pay off loans from China.

IK doesn't have a magic wand that can undo the mess PMLN and PPP have left the country in. $90b loans!

So what would you do if you were taking the PM seat right this very moment? It's all good talking hypothetical and ideal scenarios as you are, what's your realistic short term solution?

We have $200+ billions looted money stashed all over the world - for which the last PMLN simply over ruled to persue when the work with Swiss Banks was already done. When these moneys starts coming back, we will be in a very strong position to break the shackles of the cursed IMF loans.

while China's help is useful. its important to note that Pakistan will one day have to return this money. currently it seems that China has a lot of cash to invest so it's investing abroad with chances of higher returns in the future. China isn't just being nice it's finding places to park its cash.

Do you understand that China is the largest contributor to trade deficit in Pakistan? 10 billion USD per year, and climbing.

Pakistan should cut down on luxurious expenditures, increase tax net, and do its utmost to revive its domestic industry in order to stimulate its exports. I hope that PTI will deliver in these respects.

I am not comfortable with the idea of taking loans from China (or any country) with long-term repayment schedule; this kind of arrangement offers little incentive to a government to push for reforms.

Pakistan should get out of debt trap situation at any cost.

Good relations with China? Yes.
Loans from China? No.
