That's a older generation Type 094, but the fact that they showed the sub in broad daylight is significant. It almost certainly means that the next generation Type 096 is completed. It goes with the Chinese pattern of deploying the current generation, testing the next generation, and researching the future generations.

Also, the Type 096 is to be paired with the Type 095, just like how Type 094 was paired with the Type 093. Seeing that the first Type 095 was launched last year, it would make sense for the Type 096 to be constructed.
