Sonic boom suspected after Pakistan panic: Officials

Well I do hope it wasn't a bomb blast on the president or prime minister house which the Gov is trying to cover up. I hope its just a Sonic Boom. Its not that difficult to differentiate between a sonic boom and a bomb if you can tell a gun by the sound it makes..

Well do we have any people from Islamabad here who can describe the incident if they were awake, present or whatever there.. because i had a person here saying it felt just like the 2005 earthquake. Since i was present in Islamabad at that time and I also have witnessed several sonic booms in my life.. I think it shouldn't be that difficult to separate the two.

So what was it.. i'm still confused!

The fact that it was heard from the margallas to the pindi suburbs..
There was no blast caught.. nothing in the days of camera's everywhere...that the airforce gave a statement..
and that I was told personally by a senior member of the establishment at a funeral 30 minutes later that it was a sonic boom.

3months ago here is a big big boom in sargodha . first we thought that this is a bomb we rush to uni road (sargodha's main road ) but few hours later PAF announced its a sonic boom. my house is near to Base so these booms are normal thing for us now we even can't noticed that but that Day boom is very loud.

i really want to hear a sonic boom,first i thought our old aged mirages cant break the sound barrier anymore but after this thread i think they are pretty well maintained,here in karachi at least I never heard or witnessed the sonic boom.

"sonic boom" do most pakistanis know what that is...??? if there was i use the word IF pob the yanks

During the 71' war we heard the sonic boom only twice in Karachi. So it is not so common.

Well its been long when I heard a sonic boom when I was in Saddar Karachi in mid 90's ... at first we all thought their was some kind of boom explosion but later it comes to our knowledge that was a Mirage Fighter goes supersonic near by ... and that was the only 1 I witnessed ...

They were not F-7s they wereJF-!7's , during practice ACM one of the plane went supersonic. This is just the start people of pindi Islamabad just have to live with it, I dont know how many of you have lived in Shorkot and sargodha. They get average of 10 to 15 SB's a day. In 1979 people of Sahikhpura offically launched a complaint against PAF that they get more than 20 booms a day. because while you are doing ACM and dog-fight in CCS Mirage will do loop and in sec it go supersonic, Once the noise is pointed downwards it creates a bang. The boom is so loud that it can shatter windows that why the hard deck is 12000ft to ACM's. Things get out of hands so quickly in CCS that it is like the real thing. And while you at the controls you will do anything to shoot the other guy for points and this is just normal.

Salams sir I want to know while flying with dry thrust straight what might be the top speed JF-17 can reach both in Clean and 2 WVR and 2 BVR config ... any approximation ???
