Militaries are always supposed to be secretive and powerful that is their core mandate.

Although powerful and secritive, military establishment still has to be accountable to a civilian government and within Constitution. However, it is when the civilian government that is compromised do you see that accountability breakdown due to a trust deficit.

Thankfully that is reversing due to the more competent Imran Khan government.

However, I also understand that it is up to Pakistan to determine its national policies, misguided or not, as they may be. If they now wish to become a client state of China instead of USA because of perceived national interests, then they do have the right to become so.

What i am sating abbotabd is 100miles from afghan boarder Which was open, bin laden was non fuctional and we had recent earth quake that was largest in 100 years..compare to what happens to usa mexico boarder ..usa spends 100x more on same boarder how good are they doing? (3100vs 2400km boarder )

What happened was simply a poltical point scoring by obama which threw back afghan war efforts by 10years and pak usa relationship by 20years simply for obama to be reelected

Truth is alqeda was destroyed in pak region due to good relationship betwen usa -pak but after 2011 the lack of intelligence co operations /mistrustsimply meant the rise of taliban in Afghanistan

The problem is that instead of working to improve the situation in an already adverse climate, further actions compound the issue. After OBL, how does the detention of Dr. Afridi look to an international audience? May be he was left behind on purpose for this very reason and Pakistan took the bait?

Govt scared to release Afridi, obviously he work on OBL haunt for months and he knows lot of inside information. Releasing mean passing that info to US govt . Which might be more lethal for Pak US relation or some big names goes in lime light.
