Some Pakistani industries view India trade with alarm.

How about a fair competition? Why use unfair means to close Pakistan industry?
Pakistan is not a state where we have shortage of human resources, capital or infrastructure... we are being victim of geography.
Remove India from our south and we'll beat the whole world in any development... and i know it for a fact.

What about India in the East and North ?

Speculation, we have a free trade agreement with China which is more beneficial.
Tell me benefits ...
what you guys are exporting to China and what you guys are importing from China ...

See below figures
Primary import partners: China (15.35 percent of total imports), Saudi Arabia (10.54 percent), UAE (9.8 percent), US (4.81 percent), Kuwait (4.73 percent), Malaysia (4.43 percent), India (4.02 percent).

Primary exports - commodities: textiles (garments, bed linen, cotton cloth, yarn), circe, leather goods, sports goods, chemicals, manufactures, carpets and rugs

Primary export partners: US (15.87 percent of total valor of exports), UAE (12.35 percent), Afghanistan (8.48 percent), UK (4.7 percent), China (4.44 percent).

See your primary export items.. out of all which you can export to China or more accurately what they can consume it from you...

May be China is your gr8 friend .. totally agree with you .. but to open your market for their goods not a good idea.. you can see all those toys and jazzy electronics and all plastic household things which you guys are importing from China is killing your local industries .. At-least with India I bet you can export many many items like sporting goods.. cloths and cement

Pakistan imports $3b Indian goods via Dubai | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online all those items are costing you lot bcos of attitude we don't want to trade with our enemy .. still consuming 4+ Billion USD (3 Billion worth via third country and 1.2 billion directly)worth of Indian products + Bollywood and Ekta kapoor's stupid drama..

I know here on PDF none you guys are using any of Indian products .. some ghost is consuming all these things in Pakistan (even Indian tomatoes you are Importing from India right now .. throwing it into gutter)..You holy cow can't touch products from India.. this is called double standards ...

Common wake up man ..

^^true....only thing that shud be imported from china, or any other country for that matter , shud be capital goods.....
unfortunately, we mostly import consumer goods and resell them, cuz its easy money...

fair competition, where do you find fair competition
the country which sells large number of goods at cheapest price wins, that is what all countries america, china, etc do
if you are so hurt by it ban it no one forced you to buy goods from india
no one stopped you from developing your country, dont point finger at my country for your failure

Ignorance is bliss. Free trade with China is beneficial but if the money comes from India it is bad. Makes a lot of sense.

Simple logic:
Free trade agreement with China give Pakistan Government $(x)
Reforms in trade agreement with India will give Pakistan Government $(y)

$(x + y) > $(x) !

End of discussion i guess.........Instead of realizing that Pakistan needs not to declare India as MFN, you went into discussion of something broad....I hope the first post should be enough to clear things up..........

My dear friend, Just a day or two ago you argued why Pakistan should not give MFN status to India. And today, the Cabinet of Pakistan unanimously has given MFN status to India.

I just have to say : Trade zindabad, Pakistan, India Zindabad !

Excellent development!!!

What better way to dominate a country then by influencing them culturally and economically.

With Star Plus doing the former, MFN will allow us to do the later as well.

Give it 10 years and Pakistan will find itself both culturally and economically dependent on India. And we win the war without firing a single bullet (And making money too!)

Brilliant!!!

Pakistan grants India Most Favoured Nation status, trade set to triple

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's cabinet unanimously decided on Wednesday to grant India Most Favoured Nation (MFN) trade status, a major breakthrough that could bolster efforts to improve relations between the nuclear-armed rivals.

Trade has long been tied to political issues between the hostile neighbours, who have fought three wars since independence from Britain in 1947.

There are hopes that progress in trade ties will help bolster a fragile peace process, which the two resumed in February, with political implications likely to outweigh any practical benefits.

China's export to Pakistan: $7billion
Pakistan's export to China: $1.5billion

Yea its easy to see who is benefiting.

waiting for indian drugs to arrive into pakistan,,
in pakistan there is no generic viagra,, original costs 450 pkr for one 100mg tablet still u wont be sure if its genuine,, whareas chep indian viagra costs 120-160 pkr for 4 100mg tablets .,, penegra and vega 100 are the most sought after and best drugs,,

also the Metastatic breast cancer drug
[Letrozole:2.5mg] costs in pakistan 1700 PKR for 10 tablets , In india it costs 50 INR =87 PKR.. this is the cheapest price of the aforementioned drug in both countries...

there are dozen of dozen such examples.. where local cheapest generic costs more then 20 times that of the cheapest indian generic.. normally pakistani drugs are 10 times more expensive as opposed to indian..

it is high time to give relief to patients from these monster pharmaceuticals companies,
I say Import drugs from india.. to help poor public

Its already happening... Indian soaps are having a cultural impact already. Now that India starts flooding Pakistani markets which cheap textile and pharma drugs, people get used to a certain price point. Try changing that price point and you have a riot on your hands...

Lets sync up after 10 years and see how this has unveiled.

Reviled as USA is in Pakistan, it still will prevent India from doing that to Pakistan; and India cannot count China out either in preventing this from being realized.

Dude!!! Are you retarded? If you feel opening trade barriers for India is an issue, try opening the market to China. If India is a truck, China is steam roller on steroids....
