What's new

Some Pakistani industries view India trade with alarm.

You don't deserve it... sorry to say no cheaters deserve it!

Its funny how you call India cheats, when your trade imbalance with China is 6-7 times more than that of us. This despite the fact thay you have a FTA with them.Who is a cheat?.Secondly, when you want to export more to us, you dont follow Indian standard procedures
which every other country follows. Indian market had huge demand for Pakistani cement and yet it failed cause you didnt
get quality certifications.

Pakistan market is flooded with Indian goods and local industry is suffering due to this unfair competition and all of the workforce which is connected to industry.

We need answers.. how indians goods are being imported in such a large quantity... it never happened before.

We also need to know, what is govts. plan to make Pakistan industry more competitive.

These are imported coz there is a huge demand for them especially pharma. Some of them are even cheaper than China's even
through 3rd way trade.

how do you stop indian good from entering pakistan?
simple, tell your fellow countrymen not to buy the goods but if they cant do that we cant help but sell more

How about a fair competition? Why use unfair means to close Pakistan industry?
Pakistan is not a state where we have shortage of human resources, capital or infrastructure... we are being victim of geography.
Remove India from our south and we'll beat the whole world in any development... and i know it for a fact.

Your a blind nationalist. How is India stopping your development. What miracle can you do with no India in the south. ??
Who violated SAFTA and SAARC Trade agreements. It wasn't India. There is not even a positive negative list concept in Indian
trade.
You are not victim of geography but of unfortunate policies. Rather than trying to benefit from huge Indian market and economy
you link all of this to other issues.

@BATMAN...dude u r emotional....no one can change boundary...so leave that topic aside...i am really curious..if Pakistan can really withstand Chinies cheap products..how is expensive indian product is a threat to pakistan local industry...Can any pakistani friend elaborate?? Bcoz it is a known fact that chinies goods are cheapest of all with compromise to the quality....but again..every dont look for quality goods...so in this respect why some one in pakistan will buy indian prodcut when there is a comparative cheaper china prodcut is avaialble????

Pakistan govt. is unfair to Chinese... Zardari regime is shunning away investors while granting MFN to India.

While Pakistan needs investors not products...

Chinese have invested heavily in Pakistan... our defence industry is one example and you are trying to sell your products without competition!!

What Pakistan should focus is on Investment for Indian Business owners , not a flooding of goods into Pakistani Market
If goods are sent to Pakistan they should be close similar in price to locally set prices in Pakistan

In the early 90s Indians businesses feared in the same way but as Indian market opened up our business men became more competitive. Some lost out but now we have a large number of companies that are globally competitive and give sleepless nights to competition (including Pakistan).

Yeah if we did that, you would say "the same medicine is sold in india for x INR and sold in pakistan for 10x PKR...OMG they are looting the country".

So if we price it low, your world class industry would get destroyed (OMG) and if we price it high (like your 'industry') then we would be accused of looting.

this forum is more about politics than economics....

the problem here is not that we are importing from india..

the problem is that we're not exporting enough goods to india...

we shud focus on exporting more to india.

and also, try to restrict indian culture in pakistan to make sure people dont get attached to indian imports..

And anything that is imported from india, try to manufacture it locally is the solution to the problem.

things in pakistan are much different...

Im sure back in the 90s, the indian businessmen were extremely sensitive and emotional about their motherland and would do everything necessary to get back into business..

Pakistan is completely different. If there is tough competition, they start fleeing. They have absolutely no attachment to their country and dont want to risk anything....they will migrate to europe, usa, australia etc etc etc...and come back again in maybe a few years later when things look better...

that is why a sudden inflow of super high quality products at dirt cheap prices is not a good idea for pakistan. Rather slowly allowing competition is the right thing. Although its been a little tooooo slow.

There is a huge demand for certain Pakistani goods in India, but due to certain processes, these trades are not taking place to
the level they should.

can u list some of the major ones?

cuz i cant really imagine what it could be that indians wud import from pakistan and cant produce themselves...

paksitan is currently exporting roughly 22billion PKR worth of goods to india. ( this is from bureau of stats of pakistan )

One of the most major import we can have from Pakistan is cement and beleive me we need cement worth billions.

Whenever you have time go through this interview of our former trade minister done by a Pakistani journalist. You will know what mainly holds trade down and India is no way cheating. He clearly states the potential of trade
between us is 10 billion.
