I do know from army engr source that it was common a decade ago. They had 2 common type of booby traps, one solar the other light sensitive. Both mechanisms were just triggers though......

Solar Missiles or solar RPG's have been used in Kashmir frequently. This is nothing new. Usually these missiles are aimed at a target and kept in that position by militants at night. By morning once the sun is up the missiles automatically fire and the militants are far away by then.
