Dont kill snakes, they rarely harm human since only a very small percentage of them is actually venomous, the venomous ones only attack if threatened and even then not every bite is harmful since there are so called ''dry bites'' too. Lastly even if they inject venom it mostly doesnt even kill humans.

But their benefits are enormous, they are natural pest control and essential for the eco system, you killing snakes is pretty much like killing bees, its tilting the balance of the environment and ultimately harming yourself in the long run.

it’s tradition or obligation in our villages to kill a snake or scorpion if you come across one so that it doesn’t bite the next person. I guess it’s just been that way for who knows how long.

Not every tradition is good, we would still live in caves if we only stuck with traditions instead of making progress.

Before people start posting nonsense.

This is for reptiles and not people - god knows we all know real humans who are worse.

So, please write up experiences or types of snakes in the region.

This side, we have the following:
. Black Mamba
. Green Mamba
. Puff Adder
. Spitting Cobra
. Rinkaals
. Python
. Cape Cobra
. Mozambican Cobra
. Boomslang

More to add later.

Many many mice eating non venomous snakes. Most lethal is called Lundi (a kind of viper).

I agree, but I don’t think snakes are going anywhere in Pakistan even if people kill them. There are way too many in South Asia.
بند کر دیا سانپوں کو یہ کہہ کر سپیروں نے ۔۔۔کہ انسان ہی کافی ہے انسان کو ڈسنے کہ لیے

Insaan Hi Kafi Hai
Insaan Ko Dasne Ke Liye

Remember Kitchner was killed by a mamba bite when in sudan

I assume there is antivenom widely stocked in hospitals? Here puff adder, cobra and mamba venom is kept at most hospitals.
Let's hope and pray also, together.

These are known as the deadliest snakes in the real snake's world. Parent snakes teach their kids not to go near them.

Snakes are amazing ecosyatem balancers, i have observed myself.
I used to kill snakes, i had dogs on our farms and they used to kill snakes every night, those dogs became expert snake assasins, never seen a snake bit a dog (except a young one). Anyhow, i noticed after a few months, the population of rats increased, they started destroying the farms and the stocked grains. There were also too many holes in the farm n water would disappear in it. I realized we have disturbed the eco system. We stopped killing snakes, chained the dogs at night and discouraged them from killing snakes, the dogs soon left the habit. Now the rat population is under control and eco system back to normal.
I dont know much types but in northern areas we mostly have cobras, a brown one and a coloured one (red yellow strips), all snakes in our area are poisonous hence the culture of killing them. We also have water snakes in streams but they r also poisonous. Have also heard of flying snakes in our area.
