For some time now, Turkey has been making attempts to grow its influence among the Muslims in South Asia in order to challenge Saudi Arabia’s dominance in the Islamic world. As part of this move, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has consistently backed Pakistan over the Kashmir issue.

Of late, Turkey has been criticizing India and has been vocal in its support for Pakistan on the Kashmir issue on international platforms. And if reports are to be believed, Ankara may even go a step further to help Islamabad.

According to Firat News Agency, a Kurdish news agency and another report by Greek Media – “the commander of the SNA (Syrian National Army) militia Sulayman Shah Brigades, Muhammed Abu Amsha, announced five days ago to members of his militia in the occupied city of Şiyê near Afrin that the Turkish state wanted to relocate some units to Kashmir”.

Amsha reportedly explained that Turkish officers had asked him and other SNA commanders to list names of volunteers, and those who would agree to go would get $2,000 initially.

The news agency also claimed there was a similar recruitment activity for a Kashmiri operation in Azaz, Jarablus, Bab, and Idlib. The volunteers would then be secretly taken out of the country.

The report further said that “the jihadist troops of the so-called Syrian National Army (SNA) gathered and trained by Turkey in northern Syria are increasingly becoming Turkey’s international mercenary army”. Erdogan’s interference in Nagorno-Karabakh was about pan-Turkist goals, his plans in Kashmir are for pan-Islamism.

Growing Turkey-Pakistan Bonhomie

Relations between Pakistan and Turkey have been growing closer in recent years. In 2017, they had formed a trilateral bloc with Azerbaijan. No wonder then that Ankara and Islamabad had thrown their weight behind Azerbaijan during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Last year, Turkey had joined Malaysia and Iran to hold Kuala Lumpur Summit to challenge the Saudi-dominated Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Pakistan had to back out after Saudi Arabia reportedly threatened it with sanctions.

James M. Dorsey, a senior fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Singapore, told Nikkei Asia that Islamabad’s alignment with Turkey is linked to the growing popularity of Turkey in Pakistan.

“Turkey is more vocal on Kashmir, as opposed to Gulf states, and it’s natural that Pakistan will align itself with Turkey rather than UAE or Saudi Arabia,” he told the news website.

Recently, Turkey and Pakistan were leading the discourse on condemning France over the Prophet Mohammad’s caricatures by calling for a boycott of French products. In 2019, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia had announced that they will be launching a BBC-type English television channel to highlight the issues of Muslims and fight Islamophobia in the West.

India-Pakistan Tangle

The bilateral ties between India and Pakistan have hit the rock bottom in 2019 when New Delhi stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its temporary special status. Both countries lay claim to the whole Jammu and Kashmir region, but control parts of it.

The war-like escalations with cross-border firing have only increased in the past year. The tensions have only mounted over a period of time. China, which is engaged in a border stand-off with India for the past seven months, has its own interest in the region due to the Chine-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Beijing also supports Islamabad and has raised the Kashmir issue at the UN security council several times since 2019.

This seems unbelievable, especially since the sources are a Kurdish News Agency and a Greek one...

But if true, highly appreciated. :enjoy:

It is very interesting because combined with PA bringing on the heat to LOC last week and ordering MRAP's for Balochistan, looks like there has recently been some major change in strategy in Army HQ.

I am not sure what caused Pakistan to start getting more aggressive on LOC recently, but I am happy they finally woke up. Seems like India finally crossed some red line that caused PA to act, I wonder what the red line for PA was that now all of a sudden they have decided to unleash hell on LOC, buy MRAP's for Balochistan, and bring in units from Syria.

Someone high up in PA must have realized that current strategy of just talking is not working so now they have actually decided to do something and put actions behind their words. Very interested to see what comes next, it seems like days of Pakistan just talking and not acting are over since India lost almost a dozen soldiers on LOC last week, PA order for MRAP's, and now this news of Pakistan-Turkey-Syria forces.

How about change of morally compromised leadership and the growth of a backbone within the military leadership, in part because of recent Indian adventures against Pakistan. :D

@beijingwalker @Beast you heard that?? Uyghurs from Syria will be helping your Han Chinese kick some Indian butts....hopefully. :D

I wonder what other plans PA has for next few weeks.

Past week was very interesting to say the least. Just last week:

1. 11 Indian soldiers killed on LOC
2. Strong rumors PA is ordering MRAP
3. Turkey to relocate SNA units from Syria to Kashmir

More dead bodies on the LOC from the other side and a couple of rebellions inside India will do great for next week. Here's to wishing. :D

Looks we will finally find out what the real Bajwa doctrine looks like. I hope that cyber, drones, and space are included in that.

. .
and space are included in that.

My wet dreams...

But that's far too ahead into the future...

We would need a properly functioning SUPARCO to think of anything space related......and a couple of commercial space related companies also.

What's the plan here?

I think a lot of people here are quick to dismiss this without realizing the significance of what is actually going on here.

Unlike other groups in Syria, SNA actually has a decent track record of being able to launch ground offensives to recapture territory in fierce battles against YPG and SDF in Syria. They also have excellent coordination with TAF for airstrikes and special forces. SNA has successfully recaptured Jarabulus, Manbji, Azaz, Al-Bab, Afrin, Ras Al Ayn, Tal Abyad in northern Syria.

In other words, Pakistan is finally looking to break the deadlock in Kashmir and go on the offensive since it has become clear that India has no intention of settling the issue peacefully. So PA has decided that an offensive to recapture some territory is not only necessary but inevitable. The first step in that plan is to bring in some people from Turkey who have recent experience recapturing territory, and that is what they are doing. It shows that gov't has become more serious about Kashmir by moving away from verbal condemnation and moving toward a military ground offensive with an actual strategy.

That might be because they have simply given up on Kashmir like Pakistani leadership....or that they can't think outside the box and are too much of a negative thinkers...

Whatever the case maybe, I hope we get much better sources on these news also. :enjoy:

Nope.

It will happen but quite differently to your description.

Pakistan's border with India is not restricted to Kashmir. This is the FUNDAMENTAL GEOGRAPHIC REALITY that negates your grand plan. There is a strategy, but not the one you're describing.

Likely crap.

Pakistan won't ever dare or imagine to bring them here. If we had to select that option, we'd have brought Hezbollah advisors for asymmetrical warfare capabilities for the Kashmiris which were much better option.

I don't think Hezbollah would be keen to help us out...
