relax man. isnt india a democratic country (second largest democracy in the world). i mean you are taking some of the basic rights from your people. tomorrow you will say they should not be allowed to breath.

whenever this kind of thing starts in a country (removing slums and raising living standards) it is not an easy or a one day job. i mean what indian govt will do within 5 years the results of it will come in front of you after like 15-20 years when the next generation will become teen agers and adults. they will make a difference my dear. most of the older people who are living in slums will not (may be) change their lifestyle but it depends on the implementation of the scheme by the govt as well.

in fact, the main effect zone of these policies are on the future generations of the country which after living in a better envoirnment will have this want to lead a better life and to progress and this will help in the proress on your country (any country). of course as i have mentioned earlier in my post, india should start some good quality free schools (compulsory) for the slum children and some voccational institutes and health plan as well alongwith this scheme in order to get high benefit out of this scheme.

This is a very benign process by which the overall IQ of India can be improved. Its called Eugenics.

It is not possible to eradicate slums in India, not in 5 years I doubt even 50 years. The main reason is Population is huge, so there will always be good amount of people living in poverty. I think we might get better, if the money allocated is used to 50% (at-least 50% is for corruption). We are one of the most corrupt nation in the world and I do not know why we are not No 1. every time the list of corrupt nations is published, I am amazed that we are not even in top 10.

yes this is what all of all of us here are trying to make you understand that removing slums and raising their living standards, giving compulsory and good quality education to slum children, opening vocational institutes for the slum people so that they can start working after learning and providing health care to them willl raise the quality of indian people but you will be able to see the difference within the next 15-20 years (within the coming or next generations).

no country become globally competitive within one night so be patient. about number and facts, if you mean money for starting the projects, they have started it and alloted some funds as mentioned in previous threads and more can be alloted depending upon the success of the ongoing project, i mean this is how it goes, you can not allot all the budget of one year for just one thing isnt it?

by the way criticising just for the sake of criticism is not a good thing. if india has started a good project (keeping in view the pros and cons of the project) you should atleast try to appreciate the pros in the project. i mean that dosnt make all the project bad just due to few cons (time limit, etc).

Haha this project has no pros but only cons. Infact it is one big CON.

A bunch of builders are grabbing the land to build highrise apartments and commercial buildings, and they will allot a small portion of the land to build cheap highrise towers which will be distributed among slumdwellers.

These slumdwellers who have no idea how to live in flats and what to do with them will either sell them off and move to another slum or turn the whole area into a vertical slum. The cottage industries in the slums which sustain them will be gone and they will be unemployed and become a menace to society.

Both Japan and Korea had democracy. They were very fast in development.

Anyway, we need a benign dictatorship which can think and plan 100+ years in advance and ensure that the Indian population survives and thrives in the future.

The current method of populist election on the basis of caste and reservation and free TV and Rs 2 Rice is not going to get India anywhere.

The Chinese leadership is doing EXACTLY that. They are able to plan long term and execute because they don't have to worry about elections every 5 years and don't have to woo people with cheap sops.

So your solution to prosperity for a billion people is to treat them like sub-humans? Prosperity and better IQ's aren't achieved overnight by implementing fascist ideologies and promoting a systematic sterilization of the less educated.
