SL ranked 73 at Human Development Index

Good job SL. SL is in a good position geographically. If you use your options well there is no reason why a tiny country with low population like SL shouldn't become the next Singapore.

Obviously. The only reason SL could move 24 places in 3 years is because of its size. You need to good governance but a big country can't move up that fast.

It is a fact that without these 2 laggard provinces India would rank much higher. I dont see anything factually wrong with this statement. My last post to Gibbs should also says the same thing. Analysis of our failures and correction upon them are a pre-requisite to improvement.

I dont think anybody would dispute an analysis of failure.. But making absurd claims seems to be attempts of soothing bruised ego.. The comment is not necessarily directed at you

Well perhaps yes India will rank higher of only these two states are excluded but many others including your industrial power house Gujrat.. It may well catch the rank of SL which is 62!! places above India

In the same vain if SL exclude their most laggard provinces of Uva and the Northern Province which is still recovering from a 30 year old war.. It's HDI rank would jump probably to the 20's alongside developed nations of the world

Going by the analysis of failures that is.. Not by making butt hurt comments

Those are indeed facts that is favorable to SL.. Notice.. Nobody down played India to start with.. Sadly certain people seem to have massive insecurity complex for no fault of others

this is not about being ashamed or proud. Actually I do not see a reason to be proud being the 73 in rank. There is a lot more issues in SL that does not get reflected in a poll like that. This poll noway suggests that we are doing good and there is a lot of areas where we lag behind india.
I just pointed out the irrationality of some indian posts and never thought this would turn out to be a war zone. For me these polls are useless and not close to reality.

The point he was trying to make is that it is very difficult, if not impossible to uniformly develop a big country with a huge population like India in such a short span and there will always be parts that will drag the over all number down. You can't compare a country like SL with India.

The population of the most backward state UP is 200 million+. May I know the population of whole of SL and the population of Uva and the Northern Province. Now do you understand what we are talking about !??

They are not polls.
Its called human development index and has 3 parameters in it.

Its a methodical system and does reflect the true progress of a society.
Problem is it dosen't take into account huge population we have as a result we cannot allocate the resources properly .

We are where china was 15 years back and we would need another 20 years to reach the level at which it is currently,,i make no bones about it.
But i fail to see whats the point of discussion in it,especially people of sri lanka laughing at us??
