Correct, He's from kashmir and he spent his own money to represent his nation India in the Olympics.

He then applied for a Indian passport and applied for a Visa as a Indian citizen and went to China to represent India.

While I appreciate his attitude towards India, I'll have to admit that it is a bit out of the ordinary. I hope the Indian gov. can support his cause and serve to assure the people in the valley that India can serve their socio-economic interest. Removal of article 370 did not win popularity contest in Kashmir, so India will need support from people like him.

I posted cause it's mindblowing to learn a country of 1.4 billion people only has one athlete competes in the olympics and the government doesn't even have the money to fund him. this is what surprises everyone, not how strong India is in the olympics.

Maybe in your ignorance you thought its out of the ordinary. But reality is we have Multiple athletes from kashmir. From Cricket to kickboxing to skating.

In IPL 10 Kashmiri athletes were auctioned and in Khelo India 28 kashmiri athletes participated. Indian kick boxing captain was a kashmiri.

Who are you to talk about "his cause" ? Has he mentioned "his cause" to you ? or are you taking this mantel based on your own imagination, prejudice and wishful thinking ?

A large portion of Kashmiri people made a deal with the devil (India) in 1947, hence a large portion of it is still under Indian occupation and people like this skier are happy with the status quo and this is the main reason Kashmiris under indian occupation will never gain independence on their own.
