thanks to nawaz and zaradari steel mill was in profit till 2008 then it got bankrupt later that year and shut downed in 2015

my friend Pak Steel and PIA was never in profit, only profit was whatever that govt wanted to show. you cant just turn a profit making company into 100% as soon as dictatorship leaves and democracy takes over.

Frankly best case scenario would be Govt reviving the mill itself by dealing with loans and bringing SMEs to deal with efficiency. Second good choice is ceding operation control to a Private entity, while keeping substantial share. Outright privatization should be last option.

The answer to all of our state assets is public/private shared ownership. Public to continue to own assets, private companies to manage the business and take a share of the profits. If profits are not high enough - company is fired and new company takes over.

Yes our state babus are that incompetent and corrupt.

No, these same companies were making huge profits when owned by private Pakistani owners before Bhutto cursed us with nationalisation.

The kalay angraiz in pakistani state institutions believe only in my way or the highway, they don't believe in the middle way. Either they want to have 100% success or we they want to have 100% failure in every field. They think in the binary terms. They seem to have no concept of gradual improvements or proceeding gradually with your strategy. That is what I always feel when I see our politicians and "experts" talking about solving various issues of pakistan.

Either they want to have 100% success or we they want to have 100% defeat in every field. They seem to have no concept of gradual improvements or proceeding gradually with your strategy. That is what I always feel when I see our politicians and "experts" talking about solving various issues of pakistan.

These people are paper pushers and career politicians. They have not seen how people work for success in the real world.

This model is functioning successfully in China and Germany. The Germany government owns a company which runs much of the public transport in Western Europe.

What came first? The chicken or the egg? The corrupt system was imposed on the people. They adapted to it because they had no way to properly challenge it. You need education for that.

My point is, for every incompetent laszy Pakistani I know (in the UK and back home), I know 10 hard working ones. I know people who work day and night to make thier businesses a success. If the guy who provided the tent service at my wedding was running PSM it would be a success. He might be uneducated but he knows whatever trade he goes into, he works relentlessly and is honest.

If the IK government sells PSM, it will once and for all confirm to me that IK is nothing more than a boot licking foreign agent. This is classic economic sabotage. When you want to sell a strategic asset to foreign economic hitmans, you deliberately target the asset by making it weaker through various means including bad procurement decisions and end Client decisions. Overtime the asset becomes a "Distressed assets". You then sell this asset for PEANUTS to these foreign hitmans. Within months the sold assets becomes a "cash cow", and its equity increases many folds. If he is really thinking about selling PSM, then IK should be ashamed on himself since he is no better than NS and Zardari.
