From distance they look quite close to F-16 what do you have to say about it @nuclearpak

In an escort mission, shouldn't JF-17s suppose to being armed?

On a side note, the black trail is still visible from the JF-17s. Seems like the issue has not been resolved to this date.

You could still see the black smoke. I remember this was an issue back in 2003. Is this normal ?

If you see the original RD-33 of Mig-29 smoke, you will realise that smoke coming out of RD-93 is nothing compared to RD-33. Only a fool can say that smoke problem can be eliminated without doing any modification in engine. PAC cannot do this and i guess Russia won't allow china as well, only Russia has the authority to modify / upgrade its engine.
So, i guess RD-93MA might be smoke free.

JF-17's are the pinnacle of Pakistani Chinese freindship. I am glad they will be escorting the Chinese PM.

Uh please ... don't pass comments without proper knowledge.

Just comment on the topic.

China Central Television showed footages of the PM waving to the excort through the plane window。

The man wore a huge smile while at it。

Sir this is not that smoke trail, which was the problem with original RD-93. If you notice this is the pic of low-level fly past. At this height and speed the aircraft is moving below its normal thrust. Suppose if the engine is running at around 70% thrust, more fuel is pumped in to keep the jet fly. Hence a trail of black smoke. As soon as the pilot will push forward the throttle this smoke will disappear. This is a normal phenomenon.

Normal phenomenon which is not seen on F-16, F-7pg or Mirage aircrafts, strange isn't it?

Discuss tactics and other stuff somewhere else.
