Foreign minister S. Jaishankar has called the situation in Ladakh the “most serious” since the 1962 conflict.

“This is surely the most serious situation after 1962. In fact, after 45 years, we have had military casualties on this border. The quantum of forces currently deployed by both sides at the LAC is also unprecedented,” Jaishankar told Rediff.com in an interview ahead of the release of his book.

A solution to the border row with China must be predicated on honouring all agreements and understandings without attempting to alter the status quo unilaterally, the minister said in a clear assertion of India’s position on the issue.

“As you know, we are talking to the Chinese both through military channels and diplomatic ones. In fact, they work in tandem,” Jaishankar said.

The use of the word 'we' here is about the actions, and not results being only one-sided. We often say, 'During the Vietnam war, we saw near 58,000 Americans died or missing'. Does that mean no Vientmese deaths took place?

you got like 3 brain cells or something? chinese front line troops only number in the tens of thousands for the entire indian boarder because china knows it can wipe the floor with india without needing 200k on the front lines as it can move soldiers in as needed after war starts due to its infrastructure being magnitudes better than what the Indians have. india need hundreds of thousands of people right on the front lines cause it cant move people fast enough if war starts. chinese troops are mostly on the interior of the Tibetan plateau with decent living quarters including oxygen rooms to better treat the injured and those getting acclimated. India dont even have enough winter clothing.

element of surprise isn't important when you arnt attacking. it was the Indians that provoked, got their *** handed to them, then china decided after to take some camp sites for their troubles.

everybody has limited stocks, except the us, russia and especially china(being the world's greatest manufacturing power)can make more and easily replaced spent stocks. Also all of them have way more the 10 days worth unlike india.

and indian tactics? lololol we would love more indian tactics, like shooting down your own helicopters, and losing 40 people in an attack while china loses less than 5 at most, not to mention the dozens of Km of land lost to china. then go out and state "china has not set foot in india" while making bollywood indian wet-dream films about how your cowardice troops didn't run away only to died in the cold waters. fanstatic tactics you got there.
