Shia man killed in sectarian clash

Staff Report

KARACHI: A Shia man was killed and some wounded in a clash between two rival sects at Islam Chowk in Orangi Town on Friday.

The clash took place between activists of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), formerly the banned outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, and a Shia group.

ASJW Information Secretary Ehsanullah Farooqui told Daily Times that their activists were returning to their homes on a bus after participating in the Shuhuda-e-Islam Conference held at Siddiq-e-Akbar Masjid near Nagan Chowrangi, when some men came out from a nearby imambargah and opened fire at them. “The culprits also torched the bus,” he said.

“They also took two of our men away with them and now we are trying to find out whether the abducted men are alive or not.”

The body of the murdered Shia man, identified as Shehzad alias Sajju, 25, son of Riaz, was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Sources in the area told Daily Times that the incident took place when the participants of the Shuhuda-e-Islam Conference stopped the bus near the imambargah, and started chanting slogans against the rival sect. After a verbal spar, both sides opened fire at each other.

“If anyone claims that the ASWJ activists were chanting slogans against the rival sect, the latter should inform police and register a complaint against them, but this didn’t give them the right to open fire at them,” said Farooqui.

mr. faruqi is still claim them innocence even kill the opponent.
Question is here that why only victim is from Shia side even they also have weapon(as per fruqi statment)and have open target of Sipah sahaba bus??

sipah sahab are wandering and showing their writ under new face of ahle sunnah wal jamat but no Govt. authority take it serious.

This is evidence that sipah shaba are moving freely in the Biggest city with all weapons.

Youth’s killing sparks violence in Karachi

Thursday, 10 Jun, 2010 Flames rise from a truck which was burnt by angry mobs after the funeral prayers of Shahzad Raza in an incident of targeted killing, June 9, 2010. – Online Photo. KARACHI: The younger brother of a middle-aged man, who had been killed in Nazimabad over a week ago, was shot dead in the busy commercial area of Bahadurabad on Wednesday, police said.

While the police said they had yet to find any clue to the killers of the two brothers, the Jafaria Alliance Pakistan said the two incidents were part of a fresh series of killings targeting members of a particular sect. “I

t was between 10am and 10.30am when Shahzad Raza was targeted by two armed men riding a motorbike in the Bahadurabad area,” said Inspector Tariq Imran, the SHO of the New Town police station.

“He was walking towards the shop where he worked as a salesman when the riders, both clad in shalwar kameez, intercepted him. They fired three bullets at him and sped away. Raza died on the spot.”

On June 1, the inspector said, the victim’s 42-year-old brother was gunned down on a Nazimabad road. The family had no enmity with anyone, he said, citing the account of the victims’ brother Ali Raza who lodged an FIR (244/2010) against unidentified suspects. The case was registered at the New Town police station under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

“The victim was in his late 30s and father of two children. The family seems mild-mannered and straight, with no political or religious background. However, the two killings carried out within a short period look very strange and mysterious,” said Inspector Imran.

After the funeral prayers of Shahzad Raza were offered at an Imambargah near his Ancholi residence in Block 20 of Federal B Area, hundreds of youths staged a sit-in on Shahrah-i-Pakistan and blocked its link with the Superhighway. The situation turned ugly when police baton-charged the protesters and fired teargas shells to disperse them.

Amid hide-and-seek between the protesting youths and the police, at least three vehicles were set on fire and stones were hurled at passing vehicles that suspended traffic on Shahrah-i-Pakistan. The police used teargas shelling and exchanged fire with miscreants till late hours of Wednesday night.

“We requested them to disperse peacefully after lodging their protest, but they threw stones at the police that forced the police to move,” said Asim Khan, SP of the Gulberg Town.

“There has been no arrest yet but we have controlled the situation and managed to open the blocked road, which is now open for traffic,” he said.

A heavy contingent of Rangers later joined the police to control the situation that remained disturbed till late hours.

Meanwhile, Allama Abbas Kumaili of the Jafaria Alliance Pakistan condemned Raza’s killing, suspecting that it was carried out by one of the banned outfits to foment sectarian unrest.

“At least five people, including two doctors, from this particular sect have been gunned down in the city within a month. But unfortunately the government has not made any serious effort to take action against the miscreants,” he said.

Such kind of incident was a daily routine in D.I. khan(gate way of FATA) before operation in FATA

Get your head out of the sand.

They can stop drone attacks tomorrow if they wanted. The fact they make money and receive millions to let them fly daily is the REAL reason the government does not want to stop drone attacks. After all the drone bases ARE in PAKISTAN.

I agree and thse few want to create fitna and bad name just because of their religous extremism.
Ayetullah Sistani defined Sunni Shia sects as two faces/sides of same coin. and said that without one side/face coin is not beautifull. the sects/ school of thoughts are beauty of Islam as they give rise to debate and intellectual discussions

terrorist are getting finances from both IRAN and Sunni Middle east.

OK! I am stripping the truth ,even you may call me ghar ka bhedi lanka dhaey
I think you are living in world of ignorant. Iran had very long ago lay off the financing any shia militant organization in Pakistan.Iran had made give a financial support to only sipah Mohammed for short term in reaction of Ignorance of Govt. of that time on killing of their Ambassador Sadiq Ganji, Iranian Cadets in Kamra and some workers in Iranian consulate.
Today Iranian Govt. is in full swing of campaign "Ithad e Bain al muslimein".
Case of Finance by Iranian Govt. is quite reciprocal now.Today Iranain Mujtahids are recieving millions from Pakistan in term of "Khums" from Shias.

Attitude of people still not change even after 30 years experince.

Sipah sahab & L.Jattack on PA. is TERRORISM

Sipah sahaba & L.J Attack on Police is TERRORISM

Sipah shaba & L.J Attack on Ahmedi is TERRORISM

PA. action against Sipah sahaba and L.J is W.A. TERRORISM

BUT

siaph shaba & L.J attack on Shias is SECRETRISM

They are not just targeting TNFJ/Sipah Mohammed, They are targeting whole Shia community and one thing i want to clear that they are not SUNNI, this is not SHIA/SUNNI war.Sunnis are already victims of these wahabi/salfi based terrorist.

If our nation still not learn in 30 years about the enemy of Pakistan and Shia /Sunni than sorry to say we keep suffering in future.
