ISLAMABAD - Former Communist Party of China’s (CPC) Central Party School Vice President Li Junru, while visiting the Institute of Strategic Studies on Thursday, said that Pakistan and China’s relationship had been growing stronger and this relationship was considered unique in the world.
He quoted Deng’s saying that ‘Sino-Pak friendship is eternal’ and Pakistani leadership had repeatedly stressed that China-Pakistan’s friendship was ‘higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the ocean’. A press release issued by ISSI stated that they believed that the governments and people of China and Pakistan would promote friendship and enhance bilateral strategic cooperation to enter a new historical phase of development.
Institute of Strategic Studies Director General Ambassador (r) Ashraf Jehanger Qazi expressed his gratitude to the distinguished members of the Chinese delegation and gave them a warm welcome. Li Junru highlighted the prime role of the 18th CPC and said that the CPC had completed its most comprehensive transfer of power in more than six decades and unveiled a new leadership headed by Xi Jinping. He said that China’s political reforms appeared to be remarkably conservative, apparently in line with old-fashioned Marxist doctrines, and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics would be followed by the new leadership. He said that China believed in peaceful coexistence and would not involve itself in any conflicts inside or outside the region, but would enhance strategic capabilities. He said that CPC had adopted five goals for future plans: a prosperous society, new amendments in the party’s constitution, a new layout for work (economically, politically and cultural development), comprehensive reforms for better relations between the market and government and the party’s scientific development.
The force structure of China’s military, with its emerging military doctrine, would be aimed at supporting China’s ‘core interests’, including long-term political unity with Taiwan, and the protection of China’s territorial and maritime claims in both the East China Sea and the South China Sea. On the economic side he said that China had a vision for 2020 in which they would try to enhance their GDP, which would be almost twice in size compared to its GDP in 2010. China would also focus on scientific research and address climate change in an effective manner because it felt that this had become a non-conventional threat to economic prosperity. He further said that in China’s ‘Vision 2020’ it would focus on enhancing the living standards of people and would try to eliminate corruption inside the party.
Ambassador Qazi thanked the Chinese delegation for their comprehensive and insightful talk and said that high level visitations and exchanges would further strengthen political, economic and technological cooperation between the two countries.

Just one question . do the Chinese say they too are eternal friends with Pakistan . or is only the Pakistanis who claim so?

. .
There is nothing eternal in this world. Today's geopolitical scenario might not be the same after 20/30 years. These words sounds good for a while but does not hold too much solid base.

There is an ancient saying "Everything that has a beginning, has an end".
