The government has signed an intergovernmental agreement for procurement of 36 Rafale aircraft in direct flyaway condition. Further, inductions of the remaining Su-30 MKI aircraft and Light Combat Aircraft are in progress… When the planned inductions of the Single Engine Fighter under the strategic partner fructify, IAF will attain its authorised strength of 42 squadrons, which is expected by the end of the 15th Plan Period and which we feel is the minimum strength necessary to “dominate” a two-front conflict. The plan is to have an optimum mix of single/twin-engine aircraft and light/ medium and heavy aircraft to cover all terrains and operational areas in India. The IAF is likely to induct two squadrons of Rafale aircraft. In addition, four squadrons of Tejas are also planned to be inducted. Eventually the structure would be four types of fighter aircraft. IAF’s plans of prosecuting a two-front scenario with available resources are based on a judicious force employment philosophy. Once, the strengths/capabilities are augmented, we would be in a better position… to dominate air space.

Who says IAF is dumping Tejas ?

Waoh congratulations to HAL and Tejas team about the confidence shown by foreign dignitaries.

Who says IAF is dumping Tejas ?

IAF dumping tejas because it has ordered only 4 squadron. Each tejas squadron will need atlest 24 tejas. 20 fighter 2 reserve 2 trainer. Or number change as per IAF need. We are making two squadron of Rafale with just 36 is in which 1 reserve and 1 trainer for shorties etc.

124 is the tejas number we have ordered when we have requirements for some 12 to 14 squadron. These will be filled by additional 18 or so rafale and 10 F16 or gripin. Why to blame IAF? HAL says it will loss money if it make more production plants more than 16 per month. IAF says production timeline can't be met. Both problem will be solved of HAL in. The national intrest than being a business oriented. (need support of Indian government which can spend billions on imports but don't want to spend at with imported price tag for tejas development. We always thinking about making cheeper than others as possible. And spend billions on. Import?)

And secondly HAL problems can be solved by ordering upto 10 squadron of tejas. I mean they want to fly mig21, Mirage and jags but not tejas a new airframe with lots of benefit for India as a hole

nice.. thats brave for both sides, it also proves we trust the system. Has singapore shown interest in buying this aircraft?
Lol... Does any country show interest in a plane.... Whose own Air Force doesn't show interest in it? Not to forget the fact that it's still under development...

P. S : take a look at Singapores fleet.

I love the LCA, but Mig21 is the only thing in our arsenal that it can be compared to.
Its extra attributes maybe enough to screw FC1, but we can't deploy it near the border as a permanent solution. We need another much better SE fighter at the border that can decisively take out F16 and airbases.

10 squadron LCA is a waste unless the airframe itself is significantly improved.

You can see many examples from both air and sea. Jf17,the Chinese were not interested in that plane, and exported to country like Pakistan.same thing you can see with scorpene subs, French never induct single example but have international buyers. Yea there is a chance for LCA too in international market.

Yeh remember FC1.. which had the exact faith

FC-1 in on order by Myanmar, Your neighbor and partner. If Singapore Defense Minister flew this jet, does it mean that RSAF is going to dump it's F-16 52+ and F-15 Strike Eagles for this junk of Indian farts? Calm down munna. This tin box is not even endorsed by IAF.
