In such a scheme you are giving away the idea by transmitting .I understand that but I don't think the transmission is from satellite to the kill switch, it should be from the kill switch to the satellite with a regular 'keepalive' mechanism.
It would definitely be encrypted and should be hardware based. I am not saying it can be bypassed but it can be detected because they will definitely use some kind of electromagnetic signal, unless it's using quantum communication which is unlikely. It may also be able to be disabled depending on which spectrum it's using, not impossible to install a jammer for that particular wavelength to jam it.
most space crafts have their software put on sleep mode when traveling to Mars.. same idea..wake the kill software up when you need to disable something in the aircraft..
To this day no public evidence of such a capability exists....I bet Russians would have loved to have had a kill switch on their aircraft sold to Ukraine..
