@Śakra Answer is NO.

You can not "hold" ground without actual soldiers being stationed on ground. Something the mighty fine US Army learned the hard way in Afghanistan. The era is of asymmetric and irregular warfare aka Counter Insurgency warfare. For that, you need to hold ground in order to deny the 'space' to the opposing cadres. How do you propose that?

Additionally, look very closely and carefully at India's topography in border regions. You will find - mountains. Your technology goes only that far in high altitude mountain warfare. At the end, it is the man on the ground who has to fight and hold the ground.

An attacking force is required to have minimum of force strength in ratio 10:1 in favour to have some chance of success against a foe defending from well concealed positions on a peak. The axes of advance are very limited, meaning, you can only climb a mountain in fixed number of ways, allowing for easy appreciation and defence of the same. Before you give me the argument of Airforce carrying out precision strikes in High Altitude region, you recall our experience in Kargil. Apart from a major psychological and limited success in precision strikes, there was not much that can be directly attributed to exclusive air action.

Having said that, IA has trimmed on the 'services'. However, you can not further trim the numbers.

As for the gear? INSAS was a great weapon, till stupid lazy Indians in OFB decided to screw it up with poor QA, a story of LCA and Arjun you shall shortly see. Also, for Bullet proofs, we have ample of excellent equipment being made in India, Kanpur being a hub. However, the notorious thoughts of ensuring army is starved of all essential items, has had its effects. You are seeing a massive course correction now. But that takes time. A decade's worth of negligence can not be reversed overnight.

About our bullet proof weight? We have the equipment at same weight or slightly lesser than US army using the equipment. I really do not understand which idiot prints such non-sense!

The problem is inadequacy of numbers. That is directly the result of you electing idiots and you having idiots from Indian population in general deciding what they have no clue about. Today, to buy an essential equipment, even the local Accountant expects the Army Commander to call him up. All because of the disparities being brought about in status of Armed Forces. Imagine, a CEO is being expected to be signed off on acquisition by a store keeper of clothes in a company.

When such stupidity exists, do not expect much. You get an army that you make.

Army has been made to surrender to the tune of Rs 27000 crores on an average over the past few years yearly. Imagine if the civilians were not sitting on their fat bottoms and eating pickle and spicy food to make a lethal combination of methane and noise, all this could have been used to actually equip the soldier on ground.

Look at the joke that the process of new personal weapon acquisition has become. It had been decided that M4s would be inducted in for Officers and Tavor for others.
