Should Pakistan join the Z-20 Helicopter project with China?

.
Any connections with China are in the best Interest of Pakistan, China is not like USA, NATO & West; who change loyalties like Prostitutes/ Hookers & evil devil women in west. Who once get money / drugs they will do anything for the customer but they do not get anything from the Customer then they just to another one to get what they want
China is one reliable Friend & partner and we get all Technology from China to develop our own Industry in Pakistan like What India is doing but much better then India so we can stand on our feet like we are meant to

I agree we need to produce this in Pakistan also another Transport helicopter and WZ-10 in Pakistan and I think we would join the project soon

We Chinese feel lonely on this globe, feel so profoundly. Friend like Pakistan is too scarce, in our domestic media Pakistan means brother in arm, I think is reciprocal, Our friendship is simple albeit much higher than interest.

Totally off topic rant. But I can't stop myself from responding to this. This is coming from someone who's living in Canada, enjoying everything that the evil, devil "West" has to offer.....but yet, keep bit*ching about it. How about you leave the West. Go back to where you came from, the Heaven on earth and enjoy your life. Seems like you have serious issues with the West and the Western women.

How about IK? Your IK was married to one, and he's married to another one now......why did he marry the Western devil women??? Such hypocrisy in your society, its sad!!!

By the way, India's gone WAY ahead of Pakistan. Comparing anything from Pakistan to India is like Apples to I don't know, Melons??

Z-10 takes first flight in Pakistan

China's first Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation Z-10 helicopter shipped to Pakistan completed its first test in Rawalpindi, a city located in the province of Punjab, according to internet users as cited in overseas Chinese-language news outlet Duowei News.

Earlier reports surmised that Pakistan was choosing its next-generation attack helicopters from either China's Z-10 or Turkey's A-129 to replace its obsolete AH-1S Cobras purchased from the United States back in 80s. Meanwhile, rumors from the Russian embassy suggested that Pakistan had placed an order for Mi-35 heavy assault gunship helicopters from Moscow. The Mi-35 may be used to test the Z-10's performance in a real combat environment, although the Russian reports remain unconfirmed.

Pakistan has been one of China's traditional allies since Cold War era. With India looming as a potential enemy, it is very likely that Pakistan will operate a Chinese attack helicopter in the future. The Z-10 helicopter is capable of attacking an enemy target up to four kilometers away, a distance that leaves the Z-10 simultaneously out of the range of ground forces. It would great enhance the ability of Pakistan's armed forces to combat terrorist cells in the nation.

Since the United States already provided AH-1F helicopters to Pakistan in 2007 to replace some of the latter's older Cobras, Islamabad has not made a decision yet about purchasing the Z-10. Pakistan has still belied some interest towards that A-129 despite favoring the Z-10. Whether the copter is ultimately sold to the nation, the Z-10 combat capability will very likely be tested in Pakistan first.

That's understood, however we are going to have to replace those mils etc. Don't you think given the diversity of UH-60 frame it would be desireable to build a helo at home rather than having to import them from the west and sign ourselves out for spares and upgrades for another 30 years?

Apart from high altitude applications, Z-20 fulfills every requirement PAA, PAF, PN and Civilian authorities might have for medium lift roles.

For heavy lift, we'd have to wait. China and Russia are jointly developing a new heavy lift heli.
Indeed.

We should have joint project for the sake of learning from it. Today we learn from China, in next decade or two we will know enough to build completely ourselves. After all, China itself learned a lot from Russia.

We won't just learn from it, but also these can replace our older aircraft, which is itself a bonus.

Russia is selling it's choppers today (mostly due to their bad economy and a more weaker India pressure). What's to say they won't do it again in the next 10 years? They will be more then happy to place arms embargo and support India in the event of a conflict.

I think it should be mix. We need more choppers than jets, since we are fighting internal conflict.

As such, having China stuff and Turkish/Western stuff, it can definitely us in the future (when we build our own) to take the good from both and make a better version ourselves. Besides, not having enough diversity makes it easy for enemy to plan encounters.

Indeed India has gone way beyond us, but we can solve our mess easily as we're a nation of 200m. It's easier to manage, feed and teach than 1b+.

All we need is hard working politicians (something that singapore and similar economies experienced).

This is exactly what I've been saying all along, DON'T miss this opportunity or opportunities. Get whatever TOT you guys can and build at home. The beauty is, you guys are going to be setting up your defense / aircraft / sam / heli / naval industries based on the current standards and technologies (even if China is behind a few years, its still today's tech and designs). So your baseline starts from where countries got to, after spending many decades, wasting many billions in development, research and failed projects, etc. These JV's would result in Pakistani defense industry hit the ground running vs. having to wait and slowly learn something, and then bring it up to today's level, which requires further skill and capability up-gradation.

. .
From an investment point of view our past experience with china (JF-17 and others) we should take part in it as in JF-17 was already a successful venture.

From technology point of view it will be a long step ahead.
