They wanted to get their hands on the technology so it can be reproduced on the Z-10s. This was OK. But when the Americans started showing cheap tactics of withholding payments and treating us with derision, at that point national pride and self-respect called for stopping their convoys and kicking their 'aid'. I dont know why. maybe other options were more suitable. secondly someone thought there was chance to get the cobras. it will be Z-10s or T-129s . T-129s are awesome war proven machines. seen them flying gracefully like hawks and pouncing on PKK terrorists

This is very strange attitude that we are seeing when it comes to replacing the old american platforms, let it be F-16s or Cobras. Somehow the people responsible for such acquisitions are acting as if they are scared of change or very biased. I don't why you would want to keep using things under constant fear of sanctions specially when you have first hand experience of such sanctions for decades.
