Should PAF get Su-30 for $10 million each... Which is cheaper than JF-17!

We are not gona get it nor need it rejected here as well case closed.

Well, a country like Uganda operates only 6 Su-30s! It even set up its own overhaul facility for these 6.

I'm not suggesting the PAF should get these at all costs, as I'm not aware of all the nuances within the PAF and its thinking. I'm just saying it is a good deal... more bang for the buck.

Advantages are:
1# Ukraine can overhaul these jets, in case Russia turns its back.
2# Ukrainian missiles are compatible with it, so again no Russia.
3# Dirt Cheap
4# No need of trainers. All Su-30s are trainers + Multirole fighters. It can also be used as general trainers as well.
5# Twin engined, so increased protection over engine failure.
6# 8 tonnes payload, so less number of fighters per mission.
7# 18 hardpoints maximum. 12 normal.
8# Long range endurance (perfect for sea denial, AWACS escorts, deep penetration etc etc..)
9# 2 pilots to share the work load (extremely useful during dogfights and night time bombing)
10# Comes with additional goodies like IRST & HMS even in the basic $10 million version.

Disadvantages are:
1# Overhaul facility & training to be set up, which is a standard for any new platforms.

.
Not sure if the Russians will sell it to us though they have warmed up considerably recently !

.
Is this suitable for navy?? What is the remaining life of this Su30??
how many countries are operating same block?

.
They are useless to the IAF considering the current circumstances and means.

IAF has even rejected SU-35 after experiencing with SU30.

There is no other reason.

nope..india rejected mig-35,and Su-35 is not needed as we already got most of the advanced features of it via MKI,and we'll get almost all of them with our super 30 upgrade.

. .
We dont need defected and rejected planes its better to pay more and cry less

.
I think srilanka will be interested ..they are using unbelievably old planes .. I have seen those planes in recent war against ltte

You are right. There are indeed some good things about it.

The starting cost is not the issue.

What do u think will PAF goes for a planes which is mastered by IAF.
Plus its is not just 10 mils but it has more to do with infra plus weapons cost.

We need to maintain just 18 plane which is total headache.

I think it is better that we go for J10Bs and order more of them rahter than going to Russian plane atleast at this time.

Well TOP GUN Sir we do need it but no way in the hell that we are going to spend 10 million dollars on INDIAN REJECT not even one $

We dont need defected and rejected planes its better to pay more and cry less

Yes definitively not. I would rather buy brand new SU 30

.
It might be a good idea to get a few, since India is operating them and there is a possibility of understanding the inner workings of them and device own plans to counter them.

. .
And for maintenance infrastructure we will utilise the "Chota" from the corner mechanic shop.

When you go shopping for trousers do you buy anything that is cheap and then worry about fitting and the occasion to wear it or do you buy the one which fits you well, suits you well and is appropriate for the occassion? Process is moe or less the same with jets if you are able to understand..........

if russian can upgrade them with TVC and nuke carrying capability then Pakistan could consider it as a low cost deterrence..
