Should Line Of Control Be Converted Into A Permanent Border Between India & Pakistan?

Let all the people who currently reside in AJK and IHK vote, but freeze immigration in and out of the region; that is the only way to ensure a certain overly-populated country can't pump the region with its own people and dilute the elections.
What about a certain less populated country that has already 'pumped the region with its own people'?

You got any plans for them? Or did you just inadvertently reveal your true self behind the facade of a do-gooder?

I'm no do-gooder. I'm as crooked as they come. But that doesn't change anything about Kashmir.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir has seen minimal immigration since it became part of Pakistan. How, do you suggest, that we get the people who moved there in 1950 out. How can you say that they are not "Azad Kashmiris". This is why I said there must be a two-way freeze. What do you think, since 1947, IHK hasn't seen massive amounts of immigrants move in? Just the families of your half million plus soldiers are overwhelming the area. Simple matter is, the security situation of these regions has kept them from over-populating over the years, hence, they are still largely the way they were in 47. We can take advantage of this. And in any case, you were supposed to hold the plebiscite in 1949, before any immigration took place. Why should the Kashmiris suffer for your imperfections?

But yeah, anybody who speaks for the rights of Kashmiris is evil, that's the general aura I've seen coming from your brethren. I don't doubt for a minute that if I were saying the opposite, that you would consider me to be a saint. I have no interes in justifying my choices to people who are too blind to see beyond their own ambitions. I was talking about Kashmiris, you tried to make it all about me. Conratulations! You've been nominated as the troll of the day!

The usual attempt to obfuscate. Without trying to explain why you calling a part of Kashmir, 'Azad', doesn't make it so, I will let you chew on the Northern Areas.

Predictably the Northern Areas and the area gifted to the 'taller than mountain, deeper than sea', friend of yours, escape the cognition of Pakistanis. As if, those do not exist.

Hey, how about we start migrating to Kashmir and then 60 years later, in 2070, we would put a 'two-way freeze' and feign our inability to 'get the people who moved there' in 2010, out.

Prior to 1987, there wasn't any insurgency that required more army presence than usual. What do you think stopped us from diluting the indigenous population then? O wait, our Constitution prevented us from doing that.

Besides, the families of army personals, who are themselves not indigenous residents of Kashmir, are not considered as 'permanent' residents of Kashmir. Hence they can't cast their votes in any election held there.

As a Think Tank, your lack of knowledge is appalling.
And in any case, you were supposed to hold the plebiscite in 1949, before any immigration took place. Why should the Kashmiris suffer for your imperfections?
Kashmiris are paying the price of your misdeeds. If your people hadn't infiltrated Kashmir, Kashmiris would have been a happy bunch of people by now. Leave that aside. If your people were so concerned about Kashmir and Kashmirs, why didn't they vacate the areas they were supposed to vacate during that time.

Quit shedding those crocodile tears.

It was you who tried to explain how plebiscite should work. It was based on your understanding. Hence it was made 'all about you'. Who do you think I should have directed my queries to?

Nice attempt to deflect. But next time, try harder.

Gawd ..

This subject has been debated & thrashed endlessly since time immemorial.

A few one - liners at post #1 sparks of so much key punching - of no avail. My compliments to all those who find time & energy to contribute .

Reminds me of the old adage ' Repeat the dose till the patient dies".

Just so the indian members know......only people born in the AJK or refugees from IHK are allowed to vote in the AJK elections.
There can be a million non kashmiris in AJK but there not allowed to vote in the elections or buy property or land and even if there children are born there there still not allowed to take part in elections.

The kashmir problem lies in the mindset of the two countries.

The country carved out on the basis of two nation theory, pakistan believes that kashmir(not Jammu or Ladhak) as muslim majority is natural part of pakistan.Though BD once part of part of pakistan as one muslim country choose to go its own way due to other differences.

Where as in case of india, though we accept pakistan as inependent country,we dont believe in two nation theory as we see equal amount of muslim still living in a hindu majority india, even after the creation of pakistan. For us partition on the basis of religion is futile exercise and its occurance over for ever .We arent going to part away with the part of kashmir we control just because its muslim majority.

Any kashmir wants stay in muslim country rather than a democratic and secular coutry is free to cross over to pakistan. We indians cant loose any more of our lands to ppl who change their faith over course of history and begin to mistaken themselves as a different nation separate from the this ancient land of india.

You are contradicting yourself. If the the 1st highlighted portion is true, then the 2nd isn't possible. And vice versa.

Children born in kashmir whos parents are not kashmir citizens are not classed as kashmiri.

Both parents will have to fulfill that condition?

That is both parents have to be Kashmiri or one would suffice?
