Guys, I don't know how many of you know this but take a look at this (first paragraph).

So basically Indian government considers anyone who earns Rs. 368 a MONTH in Rural and 559 in urban area (not a day, a month) or more above poverty line. That is shocking, considering that everywhere else it is calculated by $1 or less a day. Now considering that $1 USD is about 44 indian Rs., thats actually over Rs.1300/month to stay above the actual level of poverty according to standard definition of poverty.

Now what does this tell us? A lot more people in india are actually living in poverty than we're being told. The actual number is a lot higher.

Such huge population in abject poverty is bad enough. But when India also contains a handsome lot of the world's filthiest rich, there are bound to be tremors in the society. Therefore the Maoists.

Indian government try to hide the poor people hence they bring amendments in their poverty standards.

Indian government is liar. we are the poorest people of the world. may be we should start begging money from the whites just like others in the region are doing. that would help India to get out of this extreme poverty.

yes this is true. India use food calorie as base of poverty not income. and it think that above money is enough to provide specific amount of food, which well in essence is true if food would have been only requirement.
