Chandigarh: After former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal raised doubts over the causalities inflicted in Jaish-e-Mohammed's terror camps by the Indian Air Force's air strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), Congress' Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday also attacked the BJP government asking what the purpose of air strikes was. "Were you uprooting terrorists or trees," asked Sidhu on Twitter.

Punjab minister also slammed the BJP for "politicising" the Indian Army saying "deceit" had possessed India over the "guise" of fighting Pakistan. "300 terrorist dead, Yes or No? What was the purpose then? Were you uprooting terrorist or trees? Was it an election gimmick? Deceit possesses our land in guise of fighting a foreign enemy. Stop politicising the army, it is as sacred as the state," Tweeted Sidhu.

Several Congress leaders have raised concerns over the number of terrorists eliminated in the air strikes including Kipal Sibal who quoted International media while saying that "hardly anyone had died there (In Pakistan)." Earlier, Congress leader Ajay Singh had also questioned the air strikes quoting a New York Times report saying, "there was no damage due to air strikes."

First to question the air strikes was West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who came out all guns blazing against the Centre saying that the "bombs fell in some other place and missed the target. Some of them are saying that only one person died," said Mamata.

While the Indian government has not yet confirmed the number of JeM terrorists eliminated in the strike, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday said that more than 250 JeM militants had died. India carried out the strikes 12 days after the dastardly Pulwama attack where at least 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives.
