At least 73 people have been killed after a Shia Muslim armed group opened fired inside an Iraqi Sunni mosque in the country's eastern Diyala province, medical sources have said.

A security source said bodies had been arriving at the hospital in the city of Baquba in Diyala province on Friday.

Al Jazeera's Jane Arraf, reporting from Erbil, said that according to local sources, the attack could have been in retaliation for a roadside bomb attack at a recruitment event organised by the same militia.

Such sectarian violence could hurt efforts by Iraq's new prime minister, moderate Shia Haider al-Abadi, to form a government that can unite Iraqis against the Islamic State group, the Sunni rebel group that has seized large parts of the country.

Very sad to be honest. I just see Iraq breaking apart.

Now the Sunni tribes will want revenge , ISIS is probably rubbing their hands with glee.....

It's the other way around, now Arabs will pretend to be angry whilst everyone has been quiet for the decade of ISIS killings. Not too long ago you wrote a comment in the thread expressing how happy you were that people were being killed.

Several articles state different things which make it confusing.

A suicide bomber broke into the Musab bin Omair mosque in Imam Wais village in Diyala province, about 75 miles north-east of Baghdad, and detonated his explosives before gunmen rushed in and opened fire on worshippers, an army officer and a police officer said.

Shia aren't that famous with suicide bombings, I doubt that it's Asaib ahl al haq. Looks more like ISIS but painted as Shi'a milita by Al Jazeera which has been adopted as the perpetrator by other news agencies.

Officials in Imam Wais said Iraqi security forces and local Shia militiamen had run to the scene following the mosque attack to reinforce security in the area, but were deterred by bombs planted by the militants, which allowed them to flee. Four Shia militiamen were killed and 13 wounded by the explosive devices.

Smells like ISIS now doesn't it.

Hmmm... if we had counted from day one how many innocent people the radical sunnis have killed the score would be like

radical sunni's 953256426426 - 100 shia radicals

If indeed Shias were behind this it would be a shame but the numbers of Shias doing such stuff is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING COMPARED to what sunni radicals are doing.
