Just a word of advice to my Pakistani brothers ....
In history we might have fought each other however that is history. We should accept it as it was. If our pashtun brothers want to take pride in their ancestors I will support them.
However what matters today is this. Pakistan is like a lion that stands on four legs. Punjab, Pashtuns, Sindhi and Baloch. For it to function it needs all those legs to work in tandem.
The army keeps this country safe and I think we all acknowledge that. We know that the army is predominantly a Punjabi-Pashtun entity. I am going to say to my Punjabi brothers could Pakistan survive without the Pashtun? Who was this son of the soil who gave his life for Pakistan?
Karnal Sher Khan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If the Pashtun's went their way Pakistan would lose Khyber Pakhtunkwa. What would be left of Pakistan at some points would be less than 100 miles wide. India could slice Pakistan like knife through butter. Pakistan would lose most of the Indus River and large parts of Punjab would dry up and starvation would set in. The army would lose all it's Pashtun component.
To the Punjabi's I ask is this what you want?
To the Pashtun I say - Please have a look at the state our Pashtun brothers are in Afghanistan. Many afghan's blame Pakistan. That is rubbish. Nobody can create dischord unless you allow it to happen or you have weakness in the first place. When the Red Army invade Afghanistan in 1979 whose fault was that? The 10 year war that destroyed Afghanistan was whose fault.
The Tajik's, Uzkeks hate Pashtun. You know they killed many Pashtun's to settle scores with them. Find out about the Kunduz Massacre. As Pashtun I think you already would know. Millions of Pashtun's ran to Pakistan as refuge. So the reality is Pakistani Pashtun are far better off then their brothers in Afghanistan.
To both Punjabi and Pashtun I say - both of you are the senior people in this federation called Pakistan. Both Punjabi and Pashtun are the backbone of Pakistan. So show some sense and maturity. You can have differances. I notice Welsh and English have lot of rivalry and make jokes about each other. In history they fought against each other. However today they are united under the banner of 'Great Britain' along with Scots and Irish.
To the Mohajir's I say -
You guy's have to get off your high horse. This Pakistan is not your property. You may have agitated most for Pakistan. That was because you were most at risk because you were minority from where you came from. So it is not surprising that you were terrified because you lived in a ocean of Hindu's. So you did this for yourself. You did it to save your skins. The Pashtun, Punjabi, Sindhi and Baloch were majority on their own land. In their land it was the Hindu who was in danger.
However never forget one simple fact. You can dream all you like, you can agitate all you like but all you would have had is "castle in air" Pakistan. To build a house you need land. You can have the best architectural plan but without land you cannot even build a shed.
Pakistan was made out of Sindhi, Punjabi, Baloch and Pashtun land. Never forget this fact. Before Pakistan came along there already was Punjab with Lahore as capital, Sindh with Karachi as capital, NWFP with Peshawar as capital and Balochistan with Quetta.
In 1947 the Sindhi hosted you. It was their land you settled on. It was their capital city you moved into in such large numbers the host became a minority.. You need to give up your 'Mohajir' staus and accept your hosts. You were guests and can't force the host to change their ways. You have to integrate and become new Sindhi's.
Do not act like Jews in Palestine. Like settlers in a land where the original people are turned into minority and the guest acts with impunity. You cannot treat 'Karachi' like the way Jews treat Jerusalem as your 'promised land'. Karach is not yours. You were guests and have no more right to it then any other migrants from Pakistan be they Pashtun or Punjabi.
Never forget this. Sindhi's voted for Pakistan, they did not vote for losing their Karachi.
Edit: Let Punjabi, Pashtun, Baloch and Sindhi celebrate their identity, culture and history as long as they all tie it togather into one rope - Pakistan. This amalgam made of four peoples will make a strong Pakistan.
kakar sherwani niazi lodhi yousafzai belong to afghnistan but now days they dont speak pashtoo but they are pathanDr.Qanungo, the historian who did famous research on Sher Shah, refutes this four wishes of him, claimed in the book authored by Abbas Sherwani who wrote "Tarikh-i-SherShahi"......i have forgotten the arguments he presented , but according to him Abbas Sherwani didnt give the reference from where and from whom he had heard these dying wishes of Sher Shah and that it is in total contrast to Sher Shah's personality to come up with such plans.......
@save_ghenda
Not every one with Khan surname is "Pathan". The ancestors of Imran Khan, the member here, claims to be Seraiki Baloch from Punjab..................many such "Khans" in Punjab are actually converts from low castes of Hindus and belong to Karigar/kammi class
The plan here was of different nature, he intended to convert Punjab into Pashtunistan........if this account of Abbas Sherwani is to be believed
Whatever you want to call it, Afghanistan then. There was no way he would have displaced indegenous population of punjab, the plan it seems was to turn punjab area between lahore and indus into a giant pashtun colony on pattren of mianwali or kasur. Punjab of that time was different, forested and was not muslim majority area, dominated by uncooperative tribes like jats, khokars etc. This plan was not different from Aurangzeb's, who settled Pashtuns in Katehr to suppress Katehria rajputs who were revolting since times of slave dynasty, Katehr was too close to capital delhi and it had to be 'settled'. Punjab was problem for delhi sultans in the sense, that invading Mongol armies would march through it easily and would reach near delhi. Ibrahim lodi ignored the defences of punjab and lost throne. Sher shah it seems was not in the mood to repeat the mistake , in first step he built a giant fort in jehlum, stationed one third of his army there. And as final solution he intended to populate it with pashtuns, as he couldnt install mountains etc there. Abdali derived great help from pashtun colonies of punjab, kasur and malerkotla, so sher shah' changed punjab would have been great help to durrani empire. No, I don't believe!
Rulers remain in history because of their work. Look at his work through out India.
And why he would be against one of his own provinces? and why this Mr. is bringing this issue today? there was no Pashtunistan issue back there.British Raj gave the name NWFP to a part of Punjab. It was not Sher Shah.
Everyone knows who brought the issue of Pashtunistan and who is propagating it today.
