Agree, but city like Karachi have severe public transport shortages and almost 90% population depends on private transport.Need to hike petrol/gasoline price for private car/bike owners instead of hiking public transport fares.
This will kill 2 birds with one stone, high price of petrol for private cars will force public to use public transport which will reduce import of oil and save some forex. Second the extra money generated will be used to dam funding. Bonus will be less pollution.
It will create another issue on negligence of particular regions by previous governments and current government will be accused for regional discrimination. This idea can't produce equal impacts on every city.
