Sharif’s son-in-law Capt Safdar wants bar on Ahmadis’ appointment in army, judiciary

"Mohammed Safdar said members of the Ahmadiyya sect are a "danger to this country, this nation, its constitution and its identity."

Sentiments such as the above are held and expressed by far too many Muslims. Such "mainline" Muslim thinking is why it is dangerous for non-Muslim nations to expect that Muslim immigrants will accept and enhance their civil culture of religious tolerance. Allowing Muslim immigration is, therefore, a risk. Sure, many Muslim immigrants will do just fine and not cause social harm. But, there will be many in the midst of Muslim immigrants who think like Mohammed Safdar. At best, they will coarsen the atmosphere for all non-Muslims. At worst, they will act out in some horrible manner.

the pagans became increasingly portrayed as outside the law, without rights, and ultimately non-human because they lacked Christian faith. “Because Christians were prohibited from making contracts with infidels, it was also impossible to make truce or peace with them.” (Mastnak, 2002, p. 125).

Because of this inability to make peace with Muslims directly, peace had to be made by their extermination. Killing Muslims was not homicide, but “malicide,” extermination of evil, a duty of the Church (Bernard of Clairvaux in Allen, Amt, 2014).

To kill pagans exalts the name of God; to die in the military service of God is to go home to Christ. However, to die in secular military activities is to die in sin.

POPE URBAN II calling for crusades !!!!

What did Ahmadis do to Captain Safdar?

Safdar is just your average dirty third world politician who is hiding behind the cloak of religion. You would need to understand the complex world of Pakistani politics to understand the context behind these insensitive remarks especially the current Civil-Military tensions.

This is not to say that Ahmedis are not a persecuted group within Pakistan.... there is a parrarel between their situation now and the situation of Mormons in the U.S. in the 19th century.

Both Ahmedis and Mormons are break away belief systems from mainstream religions and evoke strong resentment from religous people.

Finally I am not sure how many Muslim Americans you have interacted with but I would expect you to make a bit more effort to broaden your horizons before making such a blanket assessment about Muslims in the West.

You make a good point about the parallel with violent Mormon persecution in the USA for a period of about 50 years after Mormonism first appeared in upstate New York. Mormons were driven from New York to Illinois and then to Utah, which was a federal territory, not an organized State until its admission into the Union in 1896. It has taken until just recently, the 2010 USA presidential election wherein Mormon Mitt Romney was the Republican candidate, for Mormonism to be accepted as, almost, a mainstream religion in the USA. Mormons have never been legally discriminated against because of the US Constitution's 1st amendment protecting the practice of religion. Most of the House and Senate Members of Congress from Utah, and some from Nevada, have been Mormons for the past 100 years. However, Mormons were socially shunned by most Christians until the general falling off of Christian belief intensity, which began with the post WWII baby boomer generation in the 1960's and 1970's.

Pakistanis forgot one point, and this point is in my opinion the central point of Pakistan creation : Muslims were minority in India, Muslims were "more" or less persecuted. That is what lead to the birth of Pakistan.

Now, people who are minorities in Pakistan are more or less persecuted by Pakistanis themselves....

That guy has been grilled and condemned nation-wide for his remarks.

This is what an incompetent disqualified person wants by creating such hatred within Pakistan. The agenda is clear from PMLn about minorities that too coming with specific part to divert the focus from real issues. First with Khatm-e-Nabuwat and now with this subject, that actually proves Sharif Family approach w.r.t. peace in Pakistan. Safdar should be tried for citing hatred and promoting harm for the minorities while defaming Islam, Pakistan Army and for doing an act against Constitution of Pakistan.
