Islamabad—Pakistan experts and investigators are now convinced that the attack on PNS Mehran and the destruction of P3C Orion aircraft had all the foot-prints of the involvement of one or possibly two foreign intelligence networks.
“There is no doubt in our minds and we have collected some evidences that clearly leads us that local Taliban had neither the capabilities nor resources to launch such notorious covet action that led to the destruction of Pakistan Navy’s aircraft”, said a senior official on condition of not being named.
The official cited some “evidences” collected from the scene including interception of communication and cell phone data. It may be recalled that the terrorists had targetted the Navy’s P3C Orion aircraft using arms and ammunitions under use by NATO forces in the region.
According to an eye-witness one of the foreign-attacker who spoke broken Urdu was heard advising his colleague “Shanti rakho” (stay calm) which is not Pakistan Urdu but Hindi word. Some witnesses are also claiming to have heard similar words which are not originally Urdu but used in Indian language.
Other anti-terror experts fear that the attackers were communicating on a special frequency through Indian-manufactured transmitters and woundered how they were assigned this space frequency wave-length.
Defence experts also feared that now that Pakistan Navy has been partly blinded on under-water activities, certain foreign submarines may intrude into Pakistani waters for further anti-Pakistan activities.
Experts express surprise as to why the Government has played down the role of foreign intelligence in this game but hope that perhaps officials are collecting more solid evidences before making anything open.
