Turkey should see itself as the champion of the Turkic but right now it sees itself as a regional power that needs to cozy up with the Arabs. Turkey has strategically diverted from its past partnership with Israel and is now cozying up with the Arab world, which can be a good thing but is playing out as a bad thing. Hardly had time to dabble with the Assad and Syria issue and it backfired right in the kisser, in ways that are still being analyzed and dissected (especially now with the Kurdish factor involved). The Soft Power projection you referred to needs to be completely re-thought.
The ME chapter is off-topic. The soft power works well for Turkics as far as i know (with Turkvision being my favorite), but there is clearly more room for improvement for Turkey vis a vis Turkic policies.

Occupation of East-Turkistan happened in the 1950. This is an illegal occupation and it is more recent occupation than occupation of Palestina. It is weird that some people would vote for independence of Palestina but would vote for the oppression of Uighur for their own benefit. :secret:

You're right, it is strange that some Islamic Republics would talk about brotherhood with Turkey but then stay silent while China suppresses a Turkic Muslim group. Tells you a lot about Muslims in general.

East-Turkistan should get independence and in the future it could join a Turkic union. Most Turkic countries are possitive about such an union. Also the Uighur people. There are many Uighur in Kazakhstan who are bound the Turkic people of East-Turkistan. Those borders don't exist for them.

Never.

It will. China is going towards a disintegration as many authors say.
You believe those farts? China is getting stronger every day. Better concentrate on yourself, instead of having some pan Turkic wild dream.

Hans defeated Huns and drove it to the west, we are no pushover.

The kurdish in syria, Iraq and Turkey has a higher chance of creating an independence state than Uyghur creating an independent state from Xinjiang.

Turkey has nothing to do with Uyghurs, and the only other Turkic group they hold influence over is little old Azerbaijan. Yes there is a Turkic language based alliance but it is missing MANY groups who are under the Russian sphere of influence. I think some Chinese members here are trying to start a pissing contest where one doesn't even exist. However that doesn't mean that Xinjiang isn't important and China's obvious soft underbelly.

Uyghers should move to Turkey!

What are you talking about? Uyghurs only have similar language with Turkish. In other aspects they have limited connection as Turkish moved to Istanbul 1000 years ago from Altai area and Uyghurs stay here always.

You know 1000-year could change a lot of things such as blood, culture, religion and historical memory. Uyghurs and their ancestors have lived in China for thousand years, and Turkish have lived among Europe, Russia and Arab for thousand years.

Russians had the same problem assimilating millions of Turkic Muslims and Tengrists. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't think East Turkestan will ever materialize, it's too late for these dreams when the whole world is hunting Muslims who have picked up weapons for similar causes. Context is key and right now the momentum has been taken away from independence movements involving Muslims in ways that will set them back indefinitely.

They are kins, but very very far.

Whether they are kins or not, China and Turkey need to study together. I once met with two Aussies, one's family originated from Greece and another's family were from England. They both speak in Oceania English.

In our historical records and books, China have abundant details about Uyghurs. As to Turkish, after they move to Istanbul, we have few knowledge. What happened on their route between Altai and Anatolia? How did they accept Islam? How they established Ottoman empire? When did they start to call themselves Turkish? In our ancient history book, we have almost 0 record. ( edit it: I am not expert, maybe has record maybe has no. I just don't know it.). But in the whole ancient era, China has more direct communications with Persians, we have a lot of records on them when they were pre-Islamic and post-Islamic.

Realisticly speaking, its probably useless. China is way to much for Turkey to handle. Besides, apart from the uyghur issue the relationship between China and Turkey is good. As long as the Uyghur are threathed fairly and just, i wouldnt really care. Sadly, this is not the case and Uyghurs are daily beaten and oppressed. So morally speaking i think we should support the uyghurs with some form of resistance, at least to get a message across.

Kurdish continue to be marginised and killed by turkish forces. Its sad one bragging about how they shall liberate others for freedom when they themselves has demonstrated the kind of oppression they accuse of others.
