You are absolutely correct. MQM survived because of Establishment and their game about balance of power in Sindh. Question we should be asking, Why MQM went against IK when all their requests are handled by establishment? Establishment must have promised them something.

Establishment under estimated IK, they thought he will resign but IK played trump card and now establishment is on back foot.

He left out many things. He got the call from ISI because of this tweet. He exposed establishment and they called him to delete his tweet.

Maybe he really doesn't trust them to stay neutral in elections and try to rig them in the opposition's favor? Keep in mind the ECP is pro PMLN and there is no second opinion about this.

The top military brass on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed “agreeable options” for the political parties as well as a “face-saving agreement” for the government and the opposition to get out of the current political crisis.
According to sources in the PM House, the civil and military officials who attended the meeting mulled over “backdoor talks” for the next general elections. It was said that the huddle considered giving such options to the government and opposition which would be acceptable to both.
It was reported that the meeting also discussed the remaining tenure of PM Imran and addressed the opposition’s reservations on the government’s electoral reforms. The huddle also discussed the holding of the next general elections and the duration of the interim government.

Sources said, according to the possible “face-saving agreement”, general elections would be announced in the National Assembly as well as the four provincial assemblies.
The meeting also maintained that no plan would be finalised until the opposition agreed on it and that a “complete package” would be presented in parliament after both the government and opposition settled on the deliberated matters. In case an agreement is not reached, the process of no-trust would move forward.

See the problem that fauj has is is that it has also decided to oust IK after the threat. Faujis apparently are shit scared and have already made up their mind. According to their game piece, it would've been easy for the fauj to signal IK to step down. IK has taken that threat and shoved down Bajwa's a**. Fauj is effectively recalibrating now because Khan isnt going anywhere without a fight. Fauj is at a loss now, because it is now being seen as a co-conspirator. Remember this letter was already shown to fauj a couple of days ago and chose to remain silent.

So, the deal the generals are proposing is that the no-confidence vote will be withdrawn in return for Imran Khan promising to call an election in 2-4 months?

I think that IK should insist on completing his 5-year term. He can use the time to push through a referendum to change the constitution. Otherwise he’s never coming back to power with the current electoral system.

Bajwa and Co is not "Fauj", but the part of top brass of Army whose part of this conspiracy have smelled the blood. And things are and will never be same again for establishment if IK survives.
