SEVERE CYBER ATTACK ON GHQ SERVERS & INTRANET

Got some more info on this. All military comms with the outside world down. Internet, phones, everything. Now every officer who wants to use internet, phone service, will have to do so on civilian lines.

And this is a permanent measure for the time being. It is now being viewed from a security angle rather than a reaction to the cyber attack...

So, expect this quarantine to continue for a long time.

There was a similar breach in 2000-2001..Data was found cascading towards an unknown destination, and nobody knew since when it was happening...

Why you will allow removable drives without authorization and scanning on network which hosts classified data?

The code will scan the network , not you . And when the machine is completely cut from Internet how are you gonna transfer Data , Intranet right ?? Henceforth using some particular protocol , SSH or RDP or Telnet ( most insecure) or windows Share . That Mode of communication can be used by these little scripted spies as well

Does military have any security protocols regarding communication and connectivity? I dont think they have. Go to ISPR website and they have .gmail addresses there.

But dare not ask them a question.

The said hack attack was particularly on data servers storing information related to Strategic Plans Division (SPD) and the Army Strategic Forces Command thereby confirming the fact that someone out there is really desperate and interested to know the locations of our strategic assets and mobile nukes! It happened at 2.30am and was detected in time to sever the connections. Lets see how and where this trail eventually leads (read NSA, Arlington Virginia - USA please!)

The most unhackable data recorder and storage ever..

You could be very right on this one. Cyber attack is a new type of weapon these days and must be perfected sooner than later.

Pakistan has enough software engineers to address the issue...

highlighted part.... nvm
You don't have to broadcast your military data globally so, exposure to internet is not required and military must have it's own network to transfer data between different locations - again no internet required. Allowing removable disks on this network is opening back-doors, any sellout can steal information.

That Military's own network will one of the mentioned Protocols right ?? . They will communicate with each other .Hence the Difficult part is getting an entry into the network . It can be done in Many ways , Social Engineering and Spear Phishing being the most common ones . Instead of targeting machines they target people . Not everybody Adheres to the Strict Guidance specially the ones who are higher ups .
