A 13-episode documentary depicting Chinese culture, history, society and tourism through the eyes of a Pakistani tourist premiered Monday at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing.

"The Journey of Friendship" was shot in six Chinese cities—Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau—in 20 days. In collaboration with China Central TV Station, the production team captured 64 destinations including architectural wonders like the Great Wall, natural beauty like the Karst landforms and Li River of Guilin, Chinese cuisine and traditional arts, and the Chinese way of life.

Through the experiences of the host, one can see the awe and fascination of a tourist when he encounters the grandeur of China for the first time, filmmakers said.

"It is the first time for me Pakistan to make a documentary featuring Chinese culture and tourism," said director Saadia Haseeb. "Through this program we have endeavored to bring to the Pakistani audience a holistic yet intensive understanding of our favorite neighbor."

The production team also interviewed the Chinese who are involved in improving China-Pakistan relations. The series features Tang Mengsheng, director of the Pakistan Studies Center of Peking University.

"We always say that the Sino-Pak friendship is higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans. But we need to think it seriously that how could we do to keep this momentum," Tang said at the film's launch ceremony. "Pakistan has done a lot in China's stepping-out and we cannot forget our old friend."

The film is a window to the Chinese world, according to Chen Zuming, vice president of the China Association of International Friendly Contact "I hope that the Chinese side can do the same thing you've done soon," Chen told attendees at the launch.

After its Beijing premiere, the program will debut in Singapore later this month. It will also be televised in Pakistan and on CCTV early next year.

The production team plans to start shooting a new documentary featuring Pakistani culture, people and society next year as a sequel to the series.

Honestly everybody knows that the friendship between Pakistan and China is based on some common interests, rarely between its people. Besides, I got here the feeling, the Pakistanis open endless Hurra´s threads on China, on 1000 different topics.

Well, this thread is created by a Chinese to say "Thanks!", I assume.

You are right that in nation states self interest rules but we have been on friendly terms for so long now, this has become almost cultural now. Go to any far flung rural area and ask any Pakistani farmer about China, the answer will be favorable (don't ask about India, that is unless you are wearing a good solid helmet :D).

And like the article suggests if we are on good footing this relationship should move forward I'm all for enhanced cultural understanding between the two nations.

You are right that Pakistan and China are more on government level, and, more importantly, they are trustworthy to each other.

When China was isolated, Pakistan helped China to connect to the rest of the world. And China helps Pakistan whenever it is needed afterwards.

In sharp contrast, when Vietnam was in need of China, China helped greatly, too, including with the blood of the Chinese people. After Vietnam finally unified, it ditches China and depicts China as if China were Vietnam’s enemy since day one.

Never said there is no mutual interest between Sino-Pak relationships. So was in Sino-Viet case. But today’s result is so different.

It is so obvious to China today that who is trustworthy and who is not.

It is so obvious to everybody but you guys today why people from China and Pakistan are saying thank you so often.

Get it now?

China stopped help from 1968 when the Vietnam war getting brutally to make friend with enemy of Vietnam, your later new master USA Uncle Sam.

"We always say that the Sino-Pak friendship is higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans. But we need to think it seriously that how could we do to keep this momentum,"

It's similiar slogan when China used Vietnam as black chess to counter USA, when it was usless China can drop it and backed Khmer rouge to attack Vietnam let us bleeding after reunitify 1975 and attacked Vietnam 1979. Dirty Traitor !
I think Pakistan known it soon, to be carefully with them.:pakistan:

Plenty members here say Chinese are ungrateful to the Americans. In China we have memorials dedicated to the Flying Tigers who voluntarily fought for us when US didn't want to get involved in the Asian region. We never denied the Americans liberated the whole Asian continent including China. Here on PDF no f*cking Vietcongs dare mentioning Mao sending troops to help Communist Vietnam, they only brag about Russian sending weapons to help them. Are there memorials in Vietnam remembering the PLA? I don't think so, what do they remember the most... China invaded them plenty of times and Vietcongs kicked the Americans out themselves (as if PLA had never helped them). China should have let the Americans conquer Vietnam and being occupied just like Japan. Vietnam as another US state is fine with me ;)

That pretty much summed up India's "sit by the fence" foreign policy.

Come on, we all know India is the reason behind all the moves of China towards Pakistan.

China Pakistan relation meant to keep India busy with Pakistan away from China. For this they provided Pakistan all type of deadly weapons. But war on terror and India's economic boom failed it, now we are focussing more towards Indo-China border.

Chinese have little investment in Pakistan, while more in Afghanistan. Chinese provided very little monetary aid to Pakistan

Perhaps you should read up on how Pakistan helped China when we were being isolated by the world. That will learn you a thing or two on how to respect and repay friendship. Not a treacherous one like Vietnam's.

Pretty sure everyone already knows why Vietnam is trying so hard to get everyone involved in the China-Vietnam's disputes though.
